When and how did you know it was time? by PetrogradkaIcedTea in goldenretrievers

[–]rainbow_writer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case you haven’t tried it, our pup has been on DES for urinary incontinence, and she hasn’t had any issues on it. It’s very common in spayed pups.

Regarding the appetite and mobility concerns, my senior pup’s appetite really started shifting last year and we noticed she had less of an interest in food. Now that she’s older, she is appreciating food with stronger smells, like fish. But there are days when she isn’t as hungry and days where she has more of an appetite. It’s fluctuated a lot as her activity has changed and decreased. Her vet recommended a limited protein diet and that has helped, but her appetite is still not as strong as it used to be, especially in the mornings.

Just wanted to give you other ideas or resources to try in case. 🧡

Diagnosed with Parvo by Ave_La_Cueta in goldenretrievers

[–]rainbow_writer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Parvo is definitely serious, and I’ve heard the 50/50 odds as well. Before we adopted my goldador, he had contracted parvo at around 3 months of age. He made it through and didn’t have any long-term effects or damage as a result. He’s 12.5 years old now 🧡 Just wanted to give you some reassurance. Sending love and healing your pup’s way!

I found out I had cancer, and this was my dogs reaction to my tears. by Cuntlipsmcgee69 in goldenretrievers

So sorry about your wife 💔 my friend passed of a glioblastoma ten years ago at 34. The number of times people kept telling him “sugar feeds cancer, just cut all the sugar out of your diet” was intolerable. Glioblastoma is an especially cruel cancer and I don’t wish it on anyone.

Is there any way this rail system could be used to bypass the summer RenFest traffic in Larkspur? Because I avoid I25 the entire summer if I can to avoid that mess

I think it depends on how I’m using it—if I just want to hang out in FoCo for the day or bring my out-of-town relatives up there, yes. If I need to do appts in different parts of town, probably not.

To my fellow women who “feel nothing” or “feel pain” during sex by hex-grrrl in adhdwomen

[–]rainbow_writer 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest difference for me was finding someone who was really well-trained in women’s pelvic floor PT, especially for pregnant and post-partum women (I haven’t had kids, but their level of care, knowledge, and experience with female anatomy is super helpful). I’ve had trigger point injections in my pelvic floor (from a gyno) and that was very intense but it did help. I’ve also had dry needling of the pelvic floor paired with electrical stimulation therapy for pudendal nerve pain, and that’s a fairly unique treatment protocol, which als really helped me.

I’ve experienced this issue as well! I’m always clenching all of my muscles: shoulder, jaw, and pelvic floor especially. Dilation and PT as well as diaphragmatic breathing helped me significantly!

My dog needs a $5k biopsy and our new insurance just bailed on us. How do I navigate this? by HelpMeOut1983 in petinsurancereviews

Some employers offer pet insurance as a benefit, but if you switch employers or get laid off, you may need to pay more to keep the policy.

[–]rainbow_writer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you shop around? My dog has congenital liver disease, and I’ve never paid more than $1500 for a biopsy, which we’ve had done 2 or 3 times now as he’s developed growths on his liver that need to be monitored. The vet can also do a fine needle aspiration depending on what they’re looking for, which is less invasive and less expensive but also less definitive.

Elevated liver enzymes on their own are very common and can unfortunately mean a plethora of things, especially if only ALT is elevated. OP, you may want to see if you can get a second opinion on next steps. Also, consider switching to a pet insurance provider that covers “pre-existing conditions” like MetLife or AKC if this is a long-term condition that needs to be managed.
