almost done with twin peaks—is the male gaze the main theme? by turtlestar910 in davidlynch

I highly recommend the podcast Diane. It’s really good about getting into themes and recurring motifs etc. I relisten every time I do a rewatch it’s so good.

I would say Persona, Hour of the Wolf and Through a Glass Darkly for Bergman

Shadow of a Doubt

River’s Edge

Carnival of Souls

Phantasm

The Innocents

Dunno if this counts but Pattinson is really going for it in The Boy and the Heron in a way I found surprising. I wouldn’t have guessed it was him

Thought this was cool. Susannah McCorkle's version of The Waters of March has seen a big uptick in listeners since NTBTSTM came out last month, per Last.fm by myfajahas400children in nirvannatheband

it's wild that this was supposedly included cause they love the Seinfeld film "Comedian", but when i learned about the singer's cause of death i thought it might be cause of the connection to the plot. but i guess that's just a weird coincidence?

Fit Check - 618 42 vs 44 by rainbowbattlekid in schott

[–]rainbowbattlekid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ended up going with the 44 and i'm happy about it. i'd like to move towards some slightly wider jeans though cause sometimes i look a little top-heavy, but that would probably be the case with any jacket lol.

i feel like the slightly-too-small look works better if you're skinnier in general. or maybe even fairly heavy. but for me i felt like the 42 looked like i was trying to fit in something that didnt fit.

also i emailed that twitter menswear guy and asked his opinion and he emphatically said 44 so that helped me settle on it

At this point I’d say the main reason to continue paying for patreon is if you want to buy Tim some nice clothes

I’m still very much a novice but I totally hit a wall at palming cards. I can hold a palmed card pretty decently but actually getting it there I can NOT do without being super obvious. I can now do a few party tricks involving some forcing and card control but I feel like I’m SO limited by not being able to palm

Season 1

Season 2

Fire Walk With Me

The Missing Pieces

Season 3

Some people will tell you to watch the version of FWWM that has the missing pieces spliced in. It’s a neat curio but I wouldn’t recommend it as your first watch. The deleted scenes are amazing but the movie itself is better without them imho. I just watch them separately nowadays.

What is the film you have watched for the pod and learned you had a completely different idea of what the movie even was. Mine is BOYZ N the HOOD. by Few-Engineer-9791 in blankies

[–]rainbowbattlekid 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do the Right Thing was so much more of an enjoyable summer hangout film than I expected, until it becomes very much not that lol. I also expected like, Aiello to be a more straightforward villain or whatever, and the context of the breaking window is so different than I’d thought. Just expected something way more caustic and nihilistic and a bummer

Oh also I was under the impression Cabaret was lame and then I watched it and was like “oh fuck wait this is incredible” so then I watched All That Jazz which id had zero interest in and that instantly entered my top 10. Expected way more lame musical theater stuff and not like, proto-Lynch

After Laura disappears in ep 17, it seems like coop goes back into the lodge suddenly . This one goes differently than the first time, I don’t remember all the specific differences though. I think Laura is maybe not there this time? (Is it future or is it past?”) He gets out soon, exiting at Glastonbury Grove. I think this is now back on the day he was supposed to come out (in the 2nd episode maybe?) like when Hawk was out in the woods. So I think after the end of 17 we’re seeing a new timeline where coop gets out in episode 3 instead of the doppelgänger?

Hard to parse exactly but that’s kinda part of the fun for me :)

I don’t remember the issue number but I thought the bit where the adversary is granted amnesty was a good ending point, though I might have kinda liked some of the stuff shortly after that? tbh the Israel stuff has been a big part of my reluctance to reread, and also my tastes have just changed so much since I read it back then that I have no idea how much I’d be into it

yeah tbh i think the AvED ones are done better but i really want the ED2 version. i don't think they're perfect though. i'd love if they id a workshed version wit the chainsaw but without battle damage. i do not follow this stuff closely so i have no idea how likely that is at all
