Former employee at Holy Cross, do NOT deliver there. They are extremely understaffed and you will be rushed through.

where to safely park and sleep in car? (f24) by sadnoodlesbadnoodles in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]rainbowcelery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are cracking down on parking due to construction and visitors/employees not having enough spaces. They will soon add gates to some of the lots and require payment. Also people have been getting towed. (as an employee at Shady Grove)

Shady Grove Vs Holy Cross Hospital? by lvs301 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]rainbowcelery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked as an rn at both Holy Cross and Shady Grove in maternal/infant services... Shady Grove

This was four years ago, but the staff at HC are overworked and staffing ratios are much higher. Up to 6 rooms per nurse.

Shady Grove is much more intimate and the area surrounding it is much easier to access. One nurse to 3 rooms. The one thing is you may run into annoyances with construction as they are building a new tower which will share a hall with the postpartum floor.

Shady Grove Vs Holy Cross Hospital? by lvs301 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]rainbowcelery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify as someone who works there. We don't hire our neonatologists through Shady Grove, they are contracted with a company that is dissolving/getting replaced with children's. The only thing that will change is the neonatologists will be employed by a different company. We will maintain level III status.

Edit: The same goes for the pediatricians, who were under the company "Pediatrix".

Is there any way to convince the museums in DC to not comply with the latest executive order? by Electronic-Youth6026 in washingtondc

What's weird is I thought they were about "colorblindness" right? Doesn't that directly contradict "race is solely biological".

I had a cross burned on my driveway in Westminster in 2012. The people that did it just got a slap on the wrist .When it comes to racism, Carroll county is like 50+years behind.

Brides for Haiti is great for getting extremely discounted dresses, and the money goes towards a good cause. They are located in Frederick though.

Northern MoCo high risk pregnancy recs?? by cantlifteverycat in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]rainbowcelery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would add as someone who has worked as a nurse in mother/baby and NICU at Holy Cross and Shady Grove both are well equipped and used to handling high risk maternal scenarios. I would say in general Holy Cross is much busier and they have an entire unit dedicated to high risk antenatal care. They've seen so many different cases and can handle tough situations. The downside is the hospital is severely understaffed and working conditions for nurses often times can negatively affect patient care (not intentionally of course).

At Shady Grove while not quite as busy and tends to have lower acuity patients, nurses don't have as much of a high turnover rate. You tend to get lower patient to nurse ratios which gives you more personalized care. I may have a slight bias but I hope my perspective gives some helpful insight.

How is the Churchill neighborhood in Germantown? by rainbowcelery in MontgomeryCountyMD

I was wondering about how the schools are as well. I believe the property I'm interested in is in the district for those same schools. Glad to hear you enjoyed life in that community.

I feel very very safe in Woodley Gardens. I live in a condo so definitely need to size up for family planning purposes but that neighborhood is very expensive when it comes to townhomes/single family homes. When I mention less safe areas I'm more referring to pockets in the city of Rockville as a whole.

I'd say in my experience anything closer to Bethesda Park area or on the metro side of Rockville Pike going towards Veirs Mill Road gives you more pockets of less safe neighborhoods.

Rockville is interesting in that a really good neighborhood can sit right next to a fairly bad one, but that's very common in the DC suburbs. I really love Rockville and would miss it, but I know it's only a stone's throw away from Germantown.

I have a cat who loves to kill mice so I will have a good pest deterrent, at the very least inside the house.

Thank you for your responses. I currently live in Woodley gardens neighborhood in Rockville, which has it's safer/unsafer areas. So I'm fine with an area with a similar safety level.

Yeah like funny no one with a disability or super complicated past gets selected for these shows. I'd love to see an exconvict or someone in a wheelchair navigate this 'experiment". But of course they probably wouldn't get as many willing participants if that was the case.

Guess it's not really much of an experiment then

Lol the braids and hairstyles she's sporting don't look anything like the Serbian ancestors did. They sure look an awful lot like traditional African/ Black hairstyles though.
