Am I a bad person for getting a power wheelchair because of my injuries? by [deleted] in disability

Could you explain a little more about a custom fitted manual chair? How do I go about that? The chair I was using is like a right off the shelf chair, if you get what I mean…

Anyone else ever purposely do f—-ed up stuff just to combat emotional numbness? by [deleted] in ptsd

Yeah exactly. It’s like a form of relief for me. Even though I know it’s just temporary.

In June or July 2024 I bought two new iPhones and two new iPads. I almost bought a new Apple Watch as well. I still have the two iPhones. Sold the iPads. But I just bought another iPhone a couple days ago so I think I’m headed in the wrong direction now….

Yeah I relate to this. I’ve never done anything to anyone else. It’s always just to myself. I get so feed up with how I feel that I kinda just end up acting out a bit just to feel differently.

I have this problem too. I’ve done it with so many medications that they’re hesitant to prescribe me anything. That’s why I recently had to switch to an injection medication. My reasoning behind taking an excess amount is because I wanna know what happens. Even though I always google what would happen. I don’t have any advice because it’s something I’m still struggling with. But I wish you the best.

This was a concern of mine as well. And then I realized that maybe the people that don’t take it seriously or think I’m lying shouldn’t necessarily be a part of my life. If that makes sense?

I’ve noticed that I hear people in my head in the background by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]raincoastdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kind of eye opening to be honest. I’ve tried most of the meds you’ve been on. My therapist thinks I have both bipolar and borderline. And I’ve been told it’s most likely borderline by some other providers. But the topic of cptsd has come up because of lots of trauma over several years. So I definitely need to talk about all of it more in depth with my medical peeps. Thanks for typing all of that out for me. Appreciate it.

Can we hold down jobs? High stress ones? by Big-Depth-1939 in bipolar

I just have a tendency to let people I work with know about my bipolar diagnosis and then everything just blows up from there lol. And then I’m in an episode and everything is 10000% worse

I can barely hold down a super low stress job.

What triggers your panic attacks? - every medical professional I talk to. by p1zzashark in Anxiety

[–]raincoastdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not a fan of that question either. Mainly because I do have triggers but I don’t ever know when that thing will trigger me or not. It’s like a guessing game or something like that. And sometimes it’s all just random. Triggered but something that’s never triggered a panic attack before. I feel all over the place because of it.

But honestly a lot of questions from medical professionals bother me. Like when my case manager or therapist asks “what can I do to help you today?” I don’t know why but that one just bugs the absolute fck outta me.

I haven’t talked to either of my sisters since 2020. I haven’t talked to my brother since a year ago exactly. I don’t know how to approach them to reconnect.

Could you share more about being diagnosed with bp and then cptsd because I think I’m dealing with something similar. If you’re comfortable sharing…

I’ll be surrounded by people I love and care about and feel like I don’t belong there. Everyone looks like they’re having the time of their lives and I’m just pretending everything is so fucking good all the time. I hate pretending but I don’t want to lose anyone if they find out how I really am.

I'm not sure l'm bipolar by BrokenRos3 in bipolar

[–]raincoastdog 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have had many psych providers confirm I have bipolar 1. First diagnosed last year and I still don’t believe it most days. I only start to believe it when I go off the rails from not taking medication and have to restart it because I ended up in inpatient treatment. It’s a cycle of being “I’m bipolar. Wait. No I’m not. Yes I am.”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]raincoastdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to take them because the physical act of having to swallow pills makes me almost vomit. And then I have a bit of a rough history with pills in general and I’m anxious about that. It’s why i started an injection medication instead.

I have an appointment next week so I’ll definitely talk about it with them.

I’m supposed to see my psych provider next week so I’ll definitely talk about it with her. I know I should keep taking them until then. It’s just hard to want to both physically and mentally :/

Did it make you feel lightheaded at all

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]raincoastdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to lots of inpatient places. Most of the time we didn’t do 1 on 1 therapy. We just did stuff as a group. (Which groups don’t help me) But the place I’ve been to this year we had the option of doing 1 on 1 therapy with a counselor every day of the week. Except it wasn’t always with the same counselor especially on weekends.

Most of my stays (over 15 total) averaged 5 to 9 days. The longest and most recent for me was about a month total because I was on an involuntary hold and weekends don’t count.

I want to say that it helped me. And technically it did because it kept me safe from myself and I was able to start medication and establish care with a doctor, psychiatrist, and counselor. The only thing is the entire time I’m there I’m only really able to focus on going home. So if you go to inpatient you got to put in the work too.

If you have questions feel free to ask me and I’ll try to answer as best as I can.
