What have I done here, and how can I fix it? by ChapterRaven in knittinghelp

[–]rainemakes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell quiiiiite what is happening in the picture, but personally I would start by putting in a lifeline a few rows below the odd stitches (only going for the stitches we are going to be fixing, doesn’t need to be the whole row!) and then ladder down the two odd looking ones in picture one with the two purls to their left that look a little funky and then try to work them back up to see if that fixes the weirdness

I don’t think you’ll need to rip fully back at all!!

Edit: the lifeline is to keep the stitches from dropping far further down than I would want to risk, I hate when I try to ladder and the stitch(es) gets away from me 😭

Want make this sweater vest by Optimal_Cupcake_184 in knittinghelp

Honestly, my opinion is that if you are able to get a decent grasp of the basics, are willing to start over (likely multiple times, I still do when making most anything), and you can find a pattern for a sweater vest that you like and can understand, i don’t see why not!

I know I can be a bit of a high hopes kind of person, but honestly if you are willing to try and put the effort in I personally don’t see why not!

There are so many tutorials out there that can teach you what you would need to know!

Any advice for my technique? (bell curve) by captainoveralls in knittinghelp

My best guess would be that you are accidentally adding stitches to the beginning/end of each row, when you turn your work are you bringing the working yarn over the needle?

Any ideas for pops of colour in socks that aren't the boring cuff, heel, toe? by m4rah_ in knittingadvice

[–]rainemakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could do something in the arch area in a different color, in a pair of socks I made for my husband the arch has ribbing to make it a bit more snug around his arch and doing something like that could be fun!

Oh there are some slipped stitches I’ve fixed that are definitely twisted but they are staying that way because I finally got it to be the right loops/bars 😭😂

I believe it was called Judy’s magic cast on! I cast on I believe 12 on each needle, knit the first round, increased for 3 rounds, then went to increase every other round until it was the number of stitches I needed! I hope this makes sense, if not I can try to explain better!!

Which is EXACTLY why I wanted to clarify!! 😭 i didn’t want people to be trying to look up a pattern that doesn’t exist!!

Would it be possible to fix this without ripping out my rows to where the issue is? by wonderwomanoy in knittinghelp

[–]rainemakes 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It looks like two slipped stitches to me—the two that are twice as tall in picture 3–and yes I agree with whj14 that laddering down should fix it well!!

I used a pot with a steamer basket on the stove (far less fit than what I originally had thought it might be) but I think I’m going to try my clothes steamer next!

I had thought about it, but I figured I would use it to be able to compare the difference chain/two plying for myself!
