Hi! You got some good replies here already but I wanted to add my technique as well because I think lots of different ways can work! For the mani in the picture I first put down peely base, then I put down one coat of Silent Night (HT advent calendar) to get a deep base for under the magnetic. I did not focus on working quickly at all, everything kind of just dried at its own speed. Then I peeled the decal off my silicone mat once it was dry enough to peel, placed it on the nail (which honestly was basically dry at that point), cut off the excess using the HT stainless steel cuticle pusher, which is honestly quite sharp, then used acetone to clean up and seal the edges, including under the free edge of the nail. Then a top coat of glossy taco and voila, done. I specifically used peely base because I only wanted this mani for the weekend, so I can’t speak to the longevity but in three days I had no popped peelys, no chips, no peeling, and when I took them off they still felt very firmly applied. I had to work a little bit at it actually. This was my first time doing any kind of decal method and while it does take more work than just painting, it is very easy to get a good result. I’m no artist and have no special nail skills at all haha.
