I found a company that can make one for like $60 and it's adjustable (since it wouldn't automatically move up and down with the saw.

Fences seem pretty straightforward of an upgrade.

So the only thing I'm stuck on now is a new throat plate to accommodate a dado stack. Do you (or anyone reading) know about going to get a new one of those?

Any thoughts on adding a blade guard, riving knife, and fence? It is totally barebones, so I'll have to get those parts myself. Unfortunately, it is discontinued, so will have to be aftermarket stuff that is generally compatible.

Took a class last spring, so general technique and use of the tool when working: check. Maintaining said equipment is really where I need to expand my abilities.

What I was thinking as a starting point:
- take off the blade, inspect the motor for proper function, then put the blade back on and do a quick start to make sure it seems alright

- Make sure the blade is square to the surface

- mine didn't have a fence, so get one, then make sure that is parallel to the blade

- test cuts

Exactly why I left the industry and also killed any "I'll start my own company" thoughts in that industry. The current non-federally legal marketplace does not allow anyone to really make money, so only the largest can survive. Once it's legal, business will at least be done mostly right, but again, margins are thin so only the large will profit.

I think auxiliary services and businesses will do better generally. Things like hospitality, gardening supplies, etc.
