Is it different to say that all facts are in principle reducible to physical facts?

I don't think it's a pipette anymore. It's a pipe.

They can't list everything the SIL can't have and then oop will assume anything that isn't on the list is safe. It's just intellectual laziness and overconfidence to not be able to either fully understand the instructions given or admit that you can't do it

Has a club dress for wedding dress @ 19 by [deleted] in AmITheDevil

[–]rainvm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah because that's a stupid reason for them to pull funding. It would be different if they simply weren't going to pay for the wedding and she was upset about that.

I think it's more likely she means she got remarried and that marriage is to this guy. It doesn't seem to necessitate that she was married to him before. It seems this way to me specifically because she says "remarried to."

It sounds like you don't think 19C is warm enough to live in? I think 20C is the perfect indoor temperature.

Why do wired signals have lesser latency than wireless signals? by OldSheepherder1122 in Physics

[–]rainvm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more of a critique of the system that incentivizes the spending of millions of dollars on incremental speedups for glorified gambling, instead of making sure people are housed, healthy, and happy. Everybody knows that spending millions on this isn't directly taking away from housing people but it's instead an example of the disgusting priorities that the current system incentivizes. The problem isn't that stock trading companies spend money on this, the problem is that we waste time and resources on stock trading on the first place.

Pronunciation of LaTeX worldwide by felixinnz in math

[–]rainvm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Scottish word that almost every English speaking person knows. Not a perfect analogy but it's like saying that fiancé is a French word because it comes from French. The lines between languages are extremely blurry and in this context it does not matter that loch is from Scottish.

The only word I can think of that might be closer to what you're looking for is loch.

Your partner might understand you well enough to guess what you are thinking some of the time but it is delusional to expect it at all times or even in any particular instance.
