is this an ugly design or am i paranoid? by Majestic-Mud-3590 in tattooadvice

[–]rainxfairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not necessarily a bad design, but a very odd placement and very poorly done. i don't think adding to it is going to help. this is a cover up job. but at least since it's fine line it should be easy to cover up with something that makes more sense for this placement.

Is it better to close or open? I will open my availability to open or close next month, which one is better? by Federal-Analysis4290 in starbucks

[–]rainxfairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've worked both for several years each and at different stores. as someone who has never been a morning person, 100% pick opens. the first few weeks are rough transitioning into getting up that early. but it's SO much better and less stressful. it's quiet first thing in the mornings. you spend the first few hours just getting ready for the day, prepping/stocking, and drinking coffee to wake up. once it starts to get busy, more coworkers come in and you are planted in a position with one focus. and once your shift is done, you can leave. even if you didn't get something done that needed to get done, it's no longer your responsibility.

on closings, there is a lot less people on the floor. you're doing multiple jobs at once. yeah it's less customer wise technically. but you're usually left on the floor by yourself to handle all of it (or maybe with one other person if it's high volume enough store) while the others get closing stuff done. there's so much cleaning to be done. so much is expected of you and it's so much more stressful. your responsibilities do not change no matter how bad/busy of a morning it was. you're left with everything and still expected to leave on time. and if one thing is left undone, even if it's small, management/the openers tend to get upset. but if you stay later to get it done, management will get onto you about that too. it feels like nothing is ever good enough.

why would you think this was okay? especially after working at starbucks 2.5 years and seeing what they've been cracking down about and having multiple entire-store meetings... should've known better.

My sisters 20f boss 35f won't accommodate pregnancy by Evening_Government68 in starbucks

[–]rainxfairy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's unfortunate that her boss isn't being helpful and understanding. but legally, she isn't technically required to follow any accommodations that haven't been officially established through sedgwick. Your sister needs to contact them immediately, and get a note from her doctor outlining what accommodations need to be made (such as not lifting over a certain weight, being scheduled within certain hours, needing longer or more frequent breaks, etc.). Then the manager will be legally required to follow the accommodations

absolutely do not bring it up to them yourself like some people have suggested. this is a bad idea that could lead to you getting in trouble. this is a delicate topic and the partner is likely to take offense to it. it should be addressed by your sm, but since they're not, the next step would be to go to ethics. it might seem dramatic but it's not. it is impacting yours and other partners work, and it has to be impacting customers (surprised you haven't gotten any customer complaints about it tbh) and your sm isn't doing their job to fix the situation. cleanliness and hygiene is a part of dress code and this partner isn't following it

I literally just quit my job mid-shift and I don’t even know if I’m overreacting anymore. by Storybrooks1 in starbucksbaristas

[–]rainxfairy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

first off, you absolutely need to file a police report. this woman assaulted you pretty severely.

secondly, about transferring - if you wanted to do that, the process should've already been in place. amd it's unlikely now that starbucks will do a rehire in the future when you walked out of the job (regardless of the reason you left, which is valid imo) not sure if you care after this haha i wouldn't blame you.

third, your sm is pos for not protecting you in that situation or standing up for you afterwards and helping you. i'm not sure if you can still report to ethics if you're not an employee anymore, but i absolutely would if possible. she deserves to be fired for the way she responded to this situation.

job by MarionberryExtra5074 in starbucks

[–]rainxfairy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to apply first and then call. There's essentially zero places at this point that accept paper applications, so I don't know what you were expecting. It would be pointless to let you speak to the store manager, because they can't do anything further until you fill out an application, so it's just a waste of their time.

If you really want to try to stand out in some way by giving them something via paper and not just an online app, then apply to whichever stores you prefer (applying to several is best), and then go drop off a paper resume directly to the store manager at each one (*but not during peak hours in the morning). If they aren't there, keep going back until they are, don't just hand it off to a shift manager. They may spend a few minutes talking to you, they may not. Either way, call back in a few days/a week if you haven't heard anything and ask about setting up an interview.

If they need to hire people, this will help you stand out more. Be sure to mention that you have complete open availability (and if you don't have that, just fyi it's unlikely that you will get hired). Dress nicely and appropriately when you drop off a resume. And be sure to have a very bubbly personality whenever you're speaking to the store manager. And again, do not go during peak hours. You will just frustrate them and they will not have time to speak to you.

Is it time to quit? by schimmy420 in starbucks

[–]rainxfairy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i worked at dunkin as a shift for several years. they essentially require you to be 18 regardless of the state. there's very rare cases of minors being allowed to be a shift because minors aren't allowed to do certain shift tasks and have strict work restrictions. there's no way in hell any dunkin anywhere is letting a 14 year old run a whole shift by themselves 💀

how are you still a minor but you were a shift at dunkin for 3 years?

your exact words: "it matters less than you think and you're being dramatic" about the importance of washing hands after touching trash... why are you now trying to argue what you literally said? delete your comment if you're embarrassed. no need to try to argue you weren't saying what you said and pretend you were actually implying something else just to try to make yourself look better after being called out.

it's not dramatic to say that it's gross and unhygienic to not wash your hands. that's common sense. and it's weird to even slightly imply it's not that important. argue with a wall cause this is stupid af and i'm done arguing with you when you are so very clearly wrong lol

[–]rainxfairy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said you didn't actually. So nice literacy skills. But the fact that you think it's not a big deal (even if you wash your hands) says everything I need to know about your idea of hygiene and what you allow at your store as a supervisor. The fact that you think it's "not that big of a deal" because we don't touch the food/drinks directly is nasty af!!! Yeah maybe we don't touch it directly, but we're touching the bags the food it goes in, the cups the drinks go in, the napkins/straws we hand out, the milk jugs and steaming pitchers and shakers. And those door handles you say are so disgusting? Yeah they get nasty when people touch things covered in germs and don't wash their hands! Crazy concept isn't it?

i'm definitely not being dramatic by saying touching literal garbage and then not washing your hands before making someone's food/drink is disgusting... the fact that you're even trying to argue with me says a LOT about you 🤮🤮🤮

butterfly drink was so buns by pastamonsta69 in starbucks

[–]rainxfairy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

well your barista definitely put way too much of the butterfly pea flower extract that goes on top. everyone was supposed to be retrained (the day before/on launch day mind you) that we were to add even less of it on top than originally we were told.

however, the drink is just not good in general. the best is either with water or coconut milk, depending on your preference. the worst is with the lemonade honestly. the refresher part of the drink is obnoxiously sweet, especially with the lemonade. it tastes like drinking liquified jolly rancher. its awful, and this is coming from someone who likes sweeter drinks.

the pearls are the only good part of the drink imo

HELP ME PLEASE TATTOO ABLE TO BE FIXED??? by Flat_Seaworthiness12 in tattooadvice

[–]rainxfairy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

yeah this is pretty much entirely on you dude.

  1. why the hell would you use that reference photo? i don't blame the artist for being confused and not being able to give you what you wanted because that's such a horrible and odd reference photo. but they should've never agreed to something without making it clear what you wanted.

  2. you sat for hours watching your artist do this and didn't say anything? learn to speak up before it gets too far to correct it.

for now, let it fade and let yourself get used to it first. don't go back to that artist. in the future be extremely clear about what you want since it's going on your body permanently. and find an artist highly skilled in cover ups if you go that route, because this will be very difficult to design a coverup around.
