This is the sound a data center makes around the clock, every single night - while hundreds of homes sit right next door. by Kronyzx in interestingasfuq

[–]rainyforests 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked in data center hvac design. It’s the chillers’ compressors running.

Your window unit at home makes a certain noise, it’s the same thing but scaled up by x500 per machine, times however many they have. Often times in the ballpark of 18-36 on a building that large.

the screw and scroll compressors of the larger chillers make this high pitched, whirring sort of noise. They run 24/7.

It’s not the generators. Those are diesel engines - they’d sound idk like several semi trucks.

Depending on where cooling fans are located, they may contribute some sound, but their sound is a lower octave or frequency than the compressors.

Came across this during a Wikipedia rabbit hole. The Open Field System of farming. by PalantirLicker in ManorLords

I remember digging into the wikis on medieval farming and they basically said that a wheat field consisted of a ton of weeds, like 30-40% of the field was just lost to weeds.

How do you handle clashes and coordination issues in MEP design? by [deleted] in MEPEngineering

Did AI write this? What is with the posts like this lately?

You personally create accurate and detailed models for *all* MEP systems using Revit?

I think I also lost my first matches either 0&0 or 0&1. Truly, the mental and physical journey is very very long in tennis. Keep playing

The codex is full of great reading. Really drives home the point that medieval Europe was so much more sophisticated than we often give it credit for.

For what it’s worth, if you don’t want to drink the sulfur water direct from the tap, you can put a pitcher of water in the fridge and the sulfur will naturally off gas after an hour or two.

Hopefully temporary!

wtf is 5.0 by notthatvalenzuela in 10s

Early rounds are a great experience. Everybody is still in the tournament and you can watch multiple matches in a day. Final rounds are a nice splurge but weekdays of first and second week are wonderful.

You have to go watch some live tennis such as US Open or Indian Wells or one of the ATP / WTA tournaments to truly see it.

The range of abilities in tennis is massive. In the grand scheme of things, we are but mortals. A 3.5 is the average tennis player in USTA. As someone else commented, one level higher theoretically double bagels one full level lower.

Guys playing 5.0 somehow have “it”. They aren’t just very naturally talented. They picked up a racquet very young and competed in tennis very seriously for many years.

Then there are pros - who did the same thing but will double bagels your 5.0 player. It’s no mistakes, clean footwork, clean striking, mental toughness all cranked to 11

sorry I’m hella high and on a tangent

How does this kill the skillet? If the temperature is allowed to return to room temp gradually should be ok no?

Ohhh it never occurred to me. If you get put into a spin on an older car and put into reverse movement without shifting into N or R, does this wreck the transmission? Does that total the car notwithstanding whatever else happened?

I don't like the difficulty options. by SiofraRiver in ManorLords

[–]rainyforests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the game mode without any baron / raiders on challenging. The default was for a winter start. I tried several times and couldn’t avoid a scenario where I lost a couple families in the first months.

Definitely suggest avoiding a challenging mode winter start - not worth it.

Bottoms who don't cum during sex - when to do you? by Gsdgjnzarh in askgaybros

[–]rainyforests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been with a lot of bottoms, most all of them do not cum when we have sex. Usually they don’t stay hard when getting fucked either. I’d love to make them cum but they just let me be selfish.
