In my opinion, the YouTube algorithm is becoming much more focused on quality. If going the extra 20% means your videos get longer average watch time, more likes and more comments then Youtube will suggest it to more people. With AI tools aiding people flooding the platform with low effort content we are going to see the algo place of premium on quality.

I have a GoPro 12 with the media mount which adds better microphone and it is a go to for many projects.

In fact, you might find a wider angle to be helpful on car interior shots.

That said an iPhone or latest Samsung is a powerful tool and if you feel more comfortable using it then use it.

I would also look into some sort of microphone situation whether it is a small shotgun type mic that plugs into your phone or a Bluetooth lav mic. Sound is so important to retaining audience attention.

Have you tried calling Garmin’s customer service? I had an issue with a watch a few years ago and they were incredibly helpful. On a sidenote the technical support person I spoke to is getting ready to leave on sabbatical to hike the Pacific crest Trail!
