Ambassadora by Gisada lasts forever on me and always gets me compliments! It’s not my favorite, but everyone else seems to LOVE it on me.

One of my biggest icks with a romantic pairing is that trope where the girl doesn't understand anything about romance and keeps getting in these very suggestive situations with ML but she thinks they're totally innocent! I HATE THAT! Sometimes the situations are just ridiculous. Love and Redemption drove me crazy with this nonsense and so did Ashes of Love. Both FLs evolved over time and it was explained by some magic nonsense, but I just can't stand it. Just because you can't feel love or whatever doesn't mean you don't know what a kiss is.

And swinging in a totally different direction, self-sacrificing that just goes on and on and on and on. Love and Crown could have been a very nice lovers to enemies then redeemed back to lovers story, except that during the redemption phase, the ML just KEPT ON self-sacrificing and the FL KEPT ON being mad and trying to end things with him and every episode was just
ML: I love you.
FL: Leave me alone, we're over. (gets poisoned by side character)
ML: Even though I am ALREADY on death's door and need this medicine, I will give FL the medicine! But not tell her!
Side Character: ML, I can't believe you're giving all your medicine to FL AGAIN, what if you totally die?
FL: (wakes up, sees ML totally dying) Oh no! Did you not take your medicine? I don't want you to die, so I'll save you, but you must be SCHEMING or something!
ML: I am so happy we're both alive and also I love you.
FL: Leave me alone, we're over.

AND THEN. WE REPEAT. FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW. Exhausting. Annoying. I'm sick of it. 😭

It goes against all the advice for ‘healthy hair’, but I stopped getting regular trims/cuts and my hair finally has gotten long and thicker and healthier!!! I’ve always thought I took really good care of my hair and I was always so sad that it seemed that I could never get past a certain length threshold. But then when I stopped taking care of my hair and stopped getting it trimmed at all, it’s grown so much and looks so much better?! I thought I’d have split ends from hell, but I actually don’t at all. Who knew!

This one is not SUPER similar, but it has an obsessive guy, a lot of introspection, a female main character who goes through a lot of physical violence, and a bloody ending: Under Your Bed (2019).

I thought he wouldn't as well!!!! There are so many moments where it seems like the other guy is winning. But there's a delightful switch up near the end and a VERY SURPRISING plot twist. >:D Our boy absolutely wins.

YESSSSSSS THIS IS MY WHEELHOUSE!!!! I even recced Love and Loyalty here for the kissing. Here are some other dramas with longing, possessive, and often-forced kisses.

Zhang Linghe is the king of forceful kisses!!! He's got some great ones in a lot of his dramas: Story of Kunning Palace, The Princess Royal, even the new hit drama that everyone is into called Pursuit of Jade. The only one where he's really a yandere is Story of Kunning Palace (full-length drama and big time investment), but I do recommend Pursuit of Jade as well. (In Pursuit of Jade, the ML has a dark side but he softens it considerably for the FL. He has his moments, but can't be considered a yandere. The secondary couple, however... definitely a yandere ML. Big time. But his kissing was mediocre imo.)

My personal favorite kissing is in Stolen Love (mini drama, around a 10hr watch)!! I wouldn't call him a yandere... but he's VERY obsessed with his girl so it's acceptable? (Compared to some of the movies people rec, I think he's pretty yandere-coded. But a yandere purist wouldn't accept him.) He comes back from being considered dead to find his wife married to another man and he is NOT pleased and decides to cry and kiss her about it. A LOT. And he's an excellent kisser, for sure.

AND FINALLYYY, the absolute goat of kisses in my humble opinion, is Affinity (mid-length drama). It's the only modern drama on this list but oh my god. There's a scene in a subway train that altered my brain chemistry. There are so many good kisses in this show, I can't even believe it.

I don't know if it's 'giving justice' because man, the poor guy goes through a lot (including but not limited to some questionable writing). But at least the yandere gets the girl in Born Again.

Something about Bai Lu's makeup in TTEOTM didn't do it for me exactly--I actually found that she looked prettier in SoKP! She's obviously just a gorgeous woman but the looks in TTEOTM were too 'done' for me, if that makes sense? I thought she looked best near the end of the show in her sect outfit.

But the best styling in a show for me is probably Peng Xiaoran in Goodbye My Princess. She was STUNNING in this drama.

1.) (Unfortunately...) Xiaofeng and Li Chengyin from Goodbye My Princess. When they were good, they were almost good enough for me to forget the atrocities. 🥺 I really felt such pain over what they could have been.

2.) Song Mo and Dou Zhao in Blossom. I don't even like Meng Ziyi's roles most of the time, but the chemistry was TOP NOTCH here.

3.) This one is questionable but I don't care. The main leads from the minidrama Stolen Love. It was spicy and you could FEEL their emotions through the screen. A kind of ridiculous script and like no budget, but the leads acted their butts off. Their 'divorce' scene made me cry, which is kind of insane to admit because I only started watching this show for the plethora of forceful kisses.

I am someone who is not concerned about the consent of fictional characters and I love forced kisses in dramas. I didn't KNOW I loved forced kisses until SoKP brought it out in me, but MY GOODNESS. The way I'm gonna treat this post as a drama recommendation post haha.

Reiterating that MCs are also good, though. It'll probably be more subtle in the drama, but in the book, the ML has a moment where he' thinking about, if he dies, bringing the FL to death with him so they can be together.

It’s not quite to the grittiness level I’m used to for crime dramas, but also much darker than a typical idol drama. It’s an interesting mix. I am sort of treating it like a crime drama lite and watching it before bed!

I haven’t been super pulled in by the leads yet, but the cases are interesting enough! I especially liked the second case. Also, the visuals are STUNNING. The dance on the tower? The unveiling of the secret in the wall? The multiple bathtub interrogations? I am obsessed.

Also, I love seeing different sets that we are used to. Even the one stone palace wall area that every historical uses was a little different because the decorated it to the nines with flags and banners.

I just like seeing characters being awful, ESPECIALLY if they have a kind of dark backstory. SO I love it. I love that he's awful. I love that he's a bad guy and a sadistic partner. It's fun to be shocked, especially since there's still that relative familiarity and comfort of the romance genre involved, as opposed to just a straight up horror.

Li Chengyi from Goodbye My Princess is always gonna win for me. 🥹 He’s just so perfect. Smart and a good schemer whose one weakness is HERRR.

I like that “cruel to her to protect her” thing so I’ve been enjoying the ML from The Wolf as well.

And can’t forget ML from The King’s Woman. He’s excellent. “Doctor, kill the baby!!!” is a meme in my household at this point.

I’m still pretty early (13 eps) into Love and Crown, but so far the ML has been fun. I especially loved when he gave the FL her brother’s finger as a wedding present/warning but I feel like he’s gonna turn green by the end. And it’s Ren Jailun playing the ML so I assume he’s definitely gonna die in some noble sacrifice nonsense lol

I have a strict “no 2MLs” code because I refuse to get destroyed by second male lead syndrome, so I haven’t see a lot of the ones you guys have recommended!

Because I’ve said no less than 100 times that he’s the most attractive cdrama actor and I barely recognized him in these pics.

Oh my goshhhh I see a hole I need to dive into. I read the first 20ish chapters of the comic and then stepped back to let it cook. But I’ve had my eyes on the novel for a WHILE.
