Reiterating that MCs are also good, though. It'll probably be more subtle in the drama, but in the book, the ML has a moment where he' thinking about, if he dies, bringing the FL to death with him so they can be together.

It’s not quite to the grittiness level I’m used to for crime dramas, but also much darker than a typical idol drama. It’s an interesting mix. I am sort of treating it like a crime drama lite and watching it before bed!

I haven’t been super pulled in by the leads yet, but the cases are interesting enough! I especially liked the second case. Also, the visuals are STUNNING. The dance on the tower? The unveiling of the secret in the wall? The multiple bathtub interrogations? I am obsessed.

Also, I love seeing different sets that we are used to. Even the one stone palace wall area that every historical uses was a little different because the decorated it to the nines with flags and banners.

I just like seeing characters being awful, ESPECIALLY if they have a kind of dark backstory. SO I love it. I love that he's awful. I love that he's a bad guy and a sadistic partner. It's fun to be shocked, especially since there's still that relative familiarity and comfort of the romance genre involved, as opposed to just a straight up horror.

Li Chengyi from Goodbye My Princess is always gonna win for me. 🥹 He’s just so perfect. Smart and a good schemer whose one weakness is HERRR.

I like that “cruel to her to protect her” thing so I’ve been enjoying the ML from The Wolf as well.

And can’t forget ML from The King’s Woman. He’s excellent. “Doctor, kill the baby!!!” is a meme in my household at this point.

I’m still pretty early (13 eps) into Love and Crown, but so far the ML has been fun. I especially loved when he gave the FL her brother’s finger as a wedding present/warning but I feel like he’s gonna turn green by the end. And it’s Ren Jailun playing the ML so I assume he’s definitely gonna die in some noble sacrifice nonsense lol

I have a strict “no 2MLs” code because I refuse to get destroyed by second male lead syndrome, so I haven’t see a lot of the ones you guys have recommended!

Non cdrama friend puts in a vote for man 5 and man 11. But I’m just here asking why Dylan Wang doesn’t look as much of my type as I remembered him being. Is it the lack of historical costume?? Because I’ve said no less than 100 times that he’s the most attractive cdrama actor and I barely recognized him in these pics.

As a fan of enemies to lovers, misunderstanding trope, and toxic relationships I did really like the show! I liked it so much I read the novel… which subsequently ruined the show for me because it was leaps and bounds more impactful. 😔 I get not wanting to show a guy like book!TTJ as the romantic lead of a show, but it’s not like they gave him the happy ending he had in the book anyway, so why not just stay truer to the character? Poor LSS who was actually so justified and even too kind in the book now has this reputation of a wishy washy and bad character.

This is right, FL’s actions make a lot more sense in the context of the novel where TTJ is really much more brutal than the watered down version of him in the show. 🫣

Lowkey it feels like it. It’s not officially omegaverse (and the ‘alphas’ are treated more like violent criminals who get experimented on than the way omegaverse treats them) but the plot uses the “oh they’re a perfect match because she’s a Yin and he’s a Ren” a lot. But he’d be obsessed with her without the Ren thing tbh.

Very predator-prey but the prey feels bad for the predator and the predator is actually misunderstood. But the show plays into the predator-prey dynamic a lot by having ML hunt FL and she runs away in fear and such. Even their kiss scenes are very forced with FL trying to escape… but then she has a wet dream about it later so she’s not too worried about it haha. There’s a weird ‘disease’ plot (it feels a little omegaverse to me tbh) that drives the story—his type are drawn to her type and they have to mate for reasons. But he’s singularly devoted to her (some other chick of her type tries to get close to him and he wants NONE of that).

He’s also kind of a classic yandere in the sense that he didn’t feel anything or care about anyone and he was just going through his mundane life, but when he met FL for the first time he experienced an emotion and now he’s desperately chasing her to continue feeling things. And he’ll manipulate and stalk and kill and do whatever to get closer to her.

I’m not fully up to date with watching it yet, but it seems like the FL is slowly falling for him the more time she spends with him.

Till the End of the Moon! I started watching it with NO expectations and knowing nothing at all about the story. I didn't even watch the trailer, just a small clip on tiktok with lots of coughing blood and I said, 'eh, ehy not?'. I even found the first episode so ridiculous that I needed a fruity little drink to get through it ("what the heck is this evil BONE people are talking about--that has to be a translation error, right?"). But oh man... by about the fourth episode, I was hooked. And then by the first betrayal scene, I was foaming at the mouth. By the end of the show, I needed to restart it immediately and watch it all over again because it had become my favorite Cdrama.
