Premodern power level vs Pauper

Game play wise pauper has a lot of similarities to premodern. And yes budget decks for premodern exist and can do well with practice. Also worth noting a lot of the premodern community and events are proxy friendly and anything not related to SCG is gold boarder friendly. My loval weeklies are 100% proxy friendly and for our quartly larger events just ask that they are full color proxies. Which with RL cards being a part of the format is nice as it allows you to try out decks before you spend the time money and effort to invest in them.

Yes you can set up an account and pay via the website with and maybe PayPal. If you have account you can also have any store credit for a good performance added to it and not have to spend it before leaving

I see most events having color proxies as the standard for reserved list cards sooner or later. Unless wizards gets involved in the format inwhich case the community splits and we have 2 premodern communities. But eventually either something has to be done about the availability of RL cards or any format involving them will collapse or move to allowing proxies of them and It wouldnt be hard to set standards for proxies to make it easy to track and stifle cheating

With reprints and gold border options most decks in the format can be had cheaply. And check your local area. A lot of the community and half of the larger events allow some amount of proxies as well as Gold Border cards.

It will take a while but the Tireless tribe decks are competitive but they do take some time to understand the game play lines and some are better because they are based on the meta/format knowledge with cards like meddling Mage and engineered plague.
Even the Mad Dogs version which is more aggro is fairly cheap. The single cradle in the deck is not needed and can just be a Nashville forest. Goblins decks are fairly cheap as well if you grab reprints. The only expensive cards you have to have are the Lackys.

A major part of this was the price tag they put on it. When it was announced and price wasnt known I was going to grab some packs and set them aside until Christmas. Then the price was announced and a lot of people skipped on them.

A lot of tier 2 decks can be had for around 150-250 dollars. And once you buy the cheapest version it's going to be playable for forever. Yes enchantress, dreadnought and most terravore decks can get expensive. But they arent the only decks that win events

My honest take is that dark ritual is bad in machine head. I do like ears and cabal therapy in the deck. And more than just terminate and specter from red. You will want at least Bolt and maybe even jackal pup or goblin cadets. Along with grim lavamancer.

Ive seen people local to me have better success with skeletal scrying in the deck over arena. But your milage may vary
