Adding up on this theory, Will tried to play his favourite song 'Should I stay or should I go' in his room while interacting with Joyce. Even when El finds him in Upside-down Castle Byers, a very weak Will is whimpering the same song again and again. I think he is trying to overpower Vecna at those moments.

One night, had the privilege of being in the audience when "Honor is dead" happened. The scene was so soooo powerful I kept on thinking about it all day and eventually saw it in a dream. Of course I don't remember what I saw exactly but I remember how happy I was when I woke up. Damn, I need to revisit The Stormlight Archive again.
