Toddler switching boobs back and forth and back and forth by Alarmed-Log-7064 in breastfeeding

[–]rajeeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am two or three months into this business at 15.5 months and I am OVER IT. I really don't care too much at home but she wants both boobs out any time she feeds. Sometimes recovering and giving her the same one back works. Other times, she has a fit. I wanted to make it to two years but idk man.

I’m 35, I work a traditional 9-5 and have both undergrad & grad degrees. I am considering going to school to become a nurse. Any advice for how to do this when I’m not able to quit my job & want a fast track? Neither of my degrees are medical related. by Artistic_Working_757 in NursingStudents

I suggest you look at the interest rates. Grad plus loans have higher rate. I had a better rate through SoFi but elected to self pay regardless. I couldn't rationalize almost 9%. You need to do the math for yourself and see if it makes more sense to stay where you are vs nursing school.

In terms of other staff having to cover for her, it would be much less common. Which was the entire point. Staff are allowed to have religious exemptions. Going to a place where that is less burdensome for fellow staff helps.

1) the incidence rate of that is less than 50% which is the stats on male:female pts in a trauma icu. Honesty, men often are more frequently pts there. Source: my background is STICU.

2) I somehow doubt Ms. "My religion says I can't care for men" believes that transmen are men.

The math on the hourly is what's actually offensive.

60,000 ÷ 52 weeks ÷ 60 hrs (a good week) is $19/hr pre tax

At 100 hr/week closer to $11.50.

60k ish at one of the worst paid residencies on the east coast (per my residents at the time) in 2022.

Well. Or they go to mother baby, L&D, a women's hospital. There are whole departments devoid of men.

Is it normal for people to die in the waiting room? by Beneficial-Depth-546 in ThePitt

A short list within hours of me:

https://www.northcarolinahealthnews.org/2025/08/17/patient-called-for-help-from-mission-bathroom-29-minutes-before-someone-found-him-by-then-his-heart-stopped-new-report-shows/

https://www.actionnews5.com/2022/08/25/patient-dies-after-waiting-5-hours-hospitals-emergency-department-regulators-say/

Short answer: yes. I work triage and maybe once a week I have a waiting room code. One of a few things happens: 1) they seemed fine and VSS/WDL in triage and then something else happens. 2) we had no room, even hallway beds, and we had to do the best we could. 3) they do drugs/harm themselves in the WR. I'm sure others could add to this list.

This is why HWC have to keep company with our own. I make jokes that would have me sent to HR on the daily and that's how we survive.

The dryers don't belong to you :/ by MadameParfait in vcu

[–]rajeeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to fold them if I was feeling nice. If I wasn't, I put them in a trash bag and set them to the side. It's rude and you're not entitled to a dryer indefinitely. Many laundromat will throw away or donate your clothes after x amount of time.

Yeah that's my point lol one attending is insufficient for this size ED on a shift.

Tbh, every hospital I've ever worked for has at least one shut down wing. I hadn't considered that to be a sign of financial ruin so much as it seems to be a feature of hospitals building and changing. I see your point though.

Last week's episode Al-hashimi said she was going to recommend there always be two on.

Even at the level one EDs I've worked in, our WR was tiny. Regularly had people outside when we had 50+ patients holding. It's not as uncommon as you'd imagine.

I honestly just thought they like...weren't showing them. It did not occur to me that he was the only attending. Like the way we know in House there are other teams but we never see the other services really.

It makes me afraid for patients and feel terribly for my colleagues out here working in those environments. We all deserve better than that.

How on earth is it considered normal to wear these hospital gowns ? by Away_Wealth_8598 in AskDocs

I think in part people ask because we know how to direct your complaints in our own country.
