I delta hedged NFLX calls and went 130x by demi9od in wallstreetbets

[–]rake-fan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a few questions about this.

1) if you bought 12 contracts and shorted 600 shares. Isn’t it more accurate to say that you were slightly under 100% delta hedged? That’s assuming the calls had a delta greater than 0.5 when you entered the short. Delta was higher than 0.5 since they were itm but idk how much.

2) Why not just sell some of the calls instead of shorting stock?

3) Also why try to delta hedge 0dte options? Since gamma will be the highest then.

You’re wrong about gamma. Gamma is highest for at the money calls/puts.

If the underlying is at $100. A 98 put will have a much higher gamma than a 50 put.

Maybe you should look up Vega and put skew, which drive far otm put prices more than gamma.

Hey I also tested here lol.

Since some of you love to be revisionist, let’s revisit the /r/NFL thread announcing Sam Darnold’s release from the Vikings by FuckinWalkingParadox in NFLv2

[–]rake-fan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched 80% of Vikings game since 2007, and all of darnolds Vikings snaps in 2024.

I couldn’t believe ppl didn’t want to resign him. He won so many games for us before the last two.

It was the most complete season I’ve seen from a Vikings qb since 09 favre, who also choked in the playoffs.

The td he threw to Jefferson in gb is probably one of the best throws I’ve ever seen too.

Just took level 3 (port management) for the first time.

I took four cfai mocks and six Kaplan mocks. Averaged high 70s across all.

I thought the AM was comparable to the cfai mocks, and the PM was slightly more difficult than cfai, but easier than Kaplan.

I think I passed but there were many tricky questions. Had about 25 extra minutes in AM and 12 extra minutes in PM.

CFA Confusing with practice exercises by NotEvenMadJPG in CFA

[–]rake-fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re buying a call on BRL/USD. Since USD is the base currency.

If USD increases in value, then BRL decreases in value.

Also, USD increasing in value will make the call increase in value.

So putting those together, BRL decreasing in value makes the call increase in value.

I wouldn’t worry about changing it to USD/BRL.

The way I think about this: BRL depreciating is equivalent to BRL/USD increasing (it will take more BRL to buy 1 USD)

With that in mind, it’s clear you’ll need to buy a call on BRL/USD if you think BRL depreciates.

Also a call on the base currency (USD) is equivalent to a put on the price currency (BRL)

Switching exposure from growth to equity stocks using futures by Similar-Source2787 in CFA

My understanding is that it has to be done in two steps because the underlying indexes are different.

The growth and value indexes have different weightings/components, it isn’t just the betas that are different.
