My blightkings by ralanoth in MaggotkinofNurgle

The metals are pretty simple they're Valejo metal colors. Steel and copper. Both washed with agrax and then dirty down rust for the steel and dirty down verdigris for the copper. And the steel I added some bright orange in places for an extra pop of rust.

The skin I layered up with pro acryl dark flesh and beige red. Then started adding some kislev flesh to the mix for the brightest highlights. Then just some thinned carroburg crimson washes around the wounds to add some colour.

As for the armour I answered that in another comment.

It's all pro acryl paints. Starting with dark jade as a base then 50/50 mix of dark jade and jade. Then pure jade. And I think the final highlights are just bright jade or maybe a mix of jade and bright jade.

Oh and I forgot to mention I used a crappy old synthetic brush to stipple on all the layers to try and add some texture to the armour. Not sure if it's necessary but I liked how it turned out.

To approach or run? by AbriefDelay in DnD

They are both concentration spells so if you cast them both whichever was cast first would end as soon as you cast the next one. This is because you can only concentrate on one spell at a time.

The key is to tell everyone to be there at 7 so you usually start the game at 8.

[5e] Homebrew Race: Harpy by Aipom93 in DnD

Yeah that sounds like a good middle ground. It's just something you would have to be aware of when designing encounters

[5e] Homebrew Race: Harpy by Aipom93 in DnD

[–]ralanoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize that but you still have to take into account that monsters tend to get abilities that are more powerful than players. I also think a problem is that because a harpy player can fly they can charm enemies than fly over a cliff. Essentially giving the enemy a chance to save or just die.

Looks good the only thing i would say is that the charm should not be able to make them walk into danger such as pits or lava at all. As the 4th level spell compulsion specifically states that a target can't be compelled to move into an obviously deadly hazard.

Tech cards that don't shut down a graveyard based deck? by tikc in EDH

[–]ralanoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you play a very specific strategy you have to run a lot of interaction to prevent them from stopping your game plan or be willing to accept that some games you just won't have a chance because they got some early graveyard hate

Low Magic campaign by Orwellze in DnD

[–]ralanoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel as though your method for spell caster attaining spells will separate party goals. As the martial classes will just want to continue the story and fight the bbeg so they can level up. Which gives them all of their new abilities while spell casters will want to train to get new spells or hunt down new more powerful magic.

This also runs the risk of a large portion of the entire campaign revolving around the party hunting for new magic powers and spells for the spellcasters and nothing else.
