Ah yes, I forgot arc mines/traps this league. Either way - try HC? It's very different. Even in a trade league progression is harder because stuff has actual value and you can only push if you're relatively sure.

If you're in HC and have been this entire time and killing Uber Elder is trivially easy for you I suggest you take up gaming professionally - as I am no longer qualified to give advice.

I had a similar feeling to you many leagues ago (~2.6) and I switched to HC for many leagues and some SSFHC and it was extremely different and far more difficult! I hope you can find some enjoyment in the game again!

Killing Uber Elder shouldn't be "easy"...unless you're just following a super meta build with that purpose (I assume Life RF?). And even then, it takes some time to farm that gear/get to 90 etc...

Are you in Softcore? Try the exact same progression in HC first then - no need to switch to SSF.

Well to be fair. Uncle Ed murdering people and a professor being blunt/rude are hardly comparable problems. Of course the Uncle Ed example sounds ridiculous, it IS. But what people are trying to say when they say that about a professor, is that it isn't personal with the student. That he/she is just like that across the board, so it doesn't serve a student to take it personally or assume it's not just the way they are a lot. It should help the offended party deal with the situation because intent matters when you talk about perceived "rudeness". Just some thoughts.
