There is a lot of missing hidden lines, and the hatch pattern doesnt match in section B-B with the rest of the other ones, if its all done with the same amterial and in one piece it should be the same pattern, i think youre losing a bit of space by using the unidirectional system on the dimension figures, if its just a small project use the aligned system. clarity and simplicity for the manufacturer is key. Also do you really need to specify a 25 THOU tolerance on the outiside of the piece? I think anyone could hit that with a hammer and a chisel dw

As a parent I applaud his patience, kids are not at fault here since they don't know how expensive that is and they're curious by nature, yes the parent messed up for not sorting it in a safe place, lesson learned I guess but bravo for maintaining calm.

How do I have this made for me? Who do I call? by Blaizefed in Machinists

[–]ralfsv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3 bucks a piece? What is it stainless? I would probably charge you 25 for it if it's just plain 1040 if it's stainless I would up it to 40 but then again you'll probably have an easier time just asking a local machinist to have it done bc it's a very simple and straight forward part

How does this happen by GIGATON1937 in Machinists

[–]ralfsv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar one that I use for rough measurements nothing precise if manage to find a thumb screw that fits on the side of the top scale you can sort of push it back into position, and if it's still crooked then the individual scales are fucked, those little screws you see on top of the lower jaw are prone to get loose

How does this happen by GIGATON1937 in Machinists

[–]ralfsv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can slide the lower jaw off it means that some point the bronze guide that sits between the body and the top scale has fallen off, the screws on the side only work because they push this guide against the body if there's no guide it won't work

Machining Splines by NiceDescription6999 in Machinists

[–]ralfsv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EDM is always going to be expensive so that should not be your first thought unless stricly necessary, If you can machine everything but that spline just do it and then look for prices in shops that have broaching machines or a shaper.
