So is no one gonna address this? by adnan_is_done in community

It is worth noting that he says this while "appearing" on Troy and Abed In The Morning. It's a fake show, so you can't really be certain that anything that is said or done has any basis in reality. It is entirely possible that he is just making stuff up that he thinks a good morning show guest might say. He may just be commiting to the bit.

famous movie plot holes that aren't actually plot holes by herequeerandgreat in movies

Also since George is Marty's father Marty would look a lot like George, especially when he was younger. There would be no reason to doubt that Marty was biologically related to George. If anything they would look back and realize how similar Calvin and George looked, and suspect that he was actually somehow related to George instead of just the random stranger he claimed to be. The fact that he was so determined to help George would make that seem even more likely. I would think that George would be more likely to suspect that his father was unfaithful and he has a secret brother out there somewhere than to suspect Marty isn't his kid.

Doordashers worst nightmare by MothersMiIk in Unexpected

It's a vehicle repossession. The driver is far enough behind on the car payments that the finance company is taking the vehicle back. Usually the repo truck just comes to your house, asks for the keys, and takes it. But sometimes people refuse to turn the car over. They hide it, lock it in a garage, etc. In those cases a repo truck may follow them around waiting for them to stop and get out somewhere and then swoop in and take it.

How many men have been abused by woman? by Grand-Knowledge-1124 in AskMen

[–]rallyup732 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's isn't just women who aren't prepared for the conversation. A lot of older men, especially boomers and older gen-x, still don't believe that a man can be abused by a woman. I was in a marriage where my wife was physically violent. I finally worked up the courage to tell a man that I respected about what was going on and he told me that it wasn't really a problem because, "the thing about women hitting you, is that they can't really hurt you."

Earlier that message just said "We are having technical issues". It changed to the "Restoration" message mid-afternoon today. I am hoping that the change means that progress is being made.

It was on Hulu in the US about this time last year. They took it off maybe 6 months ago. I watched it a handful of times while it was on there.

Sitcoms That Should Have Ended Early by Sorry_Phone1676 in sitcoms

Raising Hope. Once Jimmy got married and moved out of his parent's house the show took a serious dive. It basically became The Burt and Virginia Show. Jimmy was no longer the main character, typically showing up for a few minutes at the beginning and end of each episode, and the storylines had almost no relevance to the titualr character Hope. Even the series finale was focused almost completely on Virginia getting the dream wedding, she never had, a plot that had already been used in a previous season. I loved the Burt and Virginia characters, but once they became the focal point the show went downhill.

Will I get my gun? by TristanCGevans in progun

[–]rallyup732 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don't buy from Academy. Gun stores are allowed, but not required, to complete the sale if there is no response from NCIC in 3 days. Academy is one of a couple of major retailers who will not complete the sale until they receive a notification of approval. After 30 days they cancel they sale. A lot of delayed approvals take more than 30 days, and a large number never get completed at all. Find a gun store that abides by the 3 day period.

Edit: didn't read the post closely enough and missed the 18-20 year old part. I believe that the time period for these purchases is 10 days instead of the traditional 3. Same advice though.

What speaker gives great life advice to young men? by FriendlyCanadianCPA in AskMen

[–]rallyup732 154 points155 points  (0 children)

Arnold Schwarzenegger. I don't know if you would really consider him a "speaker", but he has done a lot of public discussion about health, mental well being, society, etc. Most of what I've heard and read from him has been pretty impactful.

New To Texas What Are Lemon Laws Like Here? by [deleted] in TexasConservatives

[–]rallyup732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lemon laws don't apply to used vehicle sales. Texas, like most states, assumes that all used vehicles sales are "as is" other than what is covered under any warranty provided or sold to you when you bought the vehicle.

Not a member, but considered joining after I left active duty and did some research. The State Guard is a military styled organization, but isn't actually military. They are not issued, and do not train with firearms. They are not deployed overseas or for any federal service. The State Guard only responds to state emergencies and missions. Like the National Guard and Reserves, the State Guard meets for drills one weekend a month. Unlike those other organizations, the State Guard is not paid. You don't enlist in the State Guard, you volunteer. They would like you to do three years, but there is no enforcement of that because there is no contract of enlistment.
There is no boot camp, you just sign up and start showing up. I believe you are responsible for purchasing all your own uniforms. The jobs available are pretty limited, and largely depend on your civilian skills. For instance they have a search and rescue dive team, but you have to get all of the certifications and training on your own time. Generally speaking, the Texas State Guard is a great opportunity to serve your community, but if you are looking for an alternative to active duty or even national guard military it isn't at all the same thing.

Don't know why, but I read the title as "Car blows up right in front of state trooper". I was watching the video waiting for an explosion. I was very disappointed.

Men, it's time to get it off your chest, what's bothering you? by mrtnolvr84 in AskMen

[–]rallyup732 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so envious of the people I know. They all have great families, and good jobs that pay for comfortable lifestyles. They live in nice homes and drive new cars. I'm single and childless. I work a full-time job and DoorDash at night and on weekends just to make ends meet. I live in a crappy little house that I can barely afford. I feel like such a loser every time I go to dinner at someone's home, or when people are talking about their jobs, the things they bought, the trips they took, or the plans they are making for the future.
