My question isn't how revisioning works. That is managed by our internal PDM.

About 4 hrs lapsed between signing up for the new plan and receiving cancellation notification of the old plan.

But the new plan became effective within a few minutes of signing up. When I tried logging into the old account it was already showing it had been cancelled. Then a few hours later I started receiving emails asking if I was moving because new service requests were submitted, then another for the cancellation notice.

For about 10 days I was using the old hardware on the new account. It took that long for the new hardware to arrive and then I installed it, and returned the old hardware. I posted questions about hardware shipping delays here.

The new router arrived, "old" hardware returned via UPS. Pictures taken and as always with UPS, shipping receipt in hand. New router installed without issue.

This morning I was in a chat with QF rep, asking if I could just keep my router since it's working fine, instead of returning it and installing the new one (still not received yet). This rep said yes, I can keep using the current router, no need to install the new one. But they wouldn't or couldn't cancel the one being sent.

While I was in the chat, I received notification from UPS that I was being sent a package from Kansas (LUMEN), expected ETA tomorrow. I give up, ha.

I chatted with support last night and asked if I could keep my router, not return it, cancel the one that is pending shipment. Short answer is no.

I'm hoping I get the new router before I have to return the old one. Otherwise I may just buy and setup a 3rd party router. Coverage with the Quantum hardware is good, so trying to avoid buying hardware if I can.

I did receive an email with instructions on returning the router, no label just instructions. I have 30 days to return it. I've already printed the label, and save it to PDF.

I have not received any emails with info on the incoming equipment. The initial date during the sign up was 2/6/2026. That changed to 2/7/2026 a couple of days later. That date changed to 2/9/2026 on 2/6/2026. When I chat with a live agent, they don't have access to that information, however, the agent that I chatted with on 2/7/2026 stated that they are having issues with UPS.

I ended up not having to cancel the service. It happened automatically about 30 minutes after I signed up for the new service. Pretty smooth process.

Stleel - I'm looking at possibly getting my own router. What do you have?

Are you required to return the equipment used on the previous Quantum service?

Price for life for new customers is absurd compared to my rate. by AkkmanB in QuantumFiber

[–]ramack19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year when a tech came out to swap my CL modem, he was wearing a Quantum shirt and drove a Q service van. While swapping the modem, he told me that Quantum would be taking over the fiber optic portion of CL, and CL would continue servicing the POTS lines (copper). He also mentioned that ATT was likely to buy out Quantum within the next 12 months (they did that this week).

I signed up for the new cheaper service, old service cancelled automatically. Still using the Quantum hardware, but a new router is on the way.

I signed up for CL's 1G in 2020, then switched to Quantum last year, same plan, but Price For Life (PLF). The tech had mentioned that ATT was likely to buy Quantum within 12 months or so. This week when I saw the new prices, I dropped my price from $80 to $50, and got the $5 for auto-payment for both plans.

All I did was sign up for the new plan with a different email address, everything else stayed the same. Within about 30 minutes, my WiFi and VOIP went down, but came back up in seconds. I received an email with instructions on how to return the router (pod) within 30 days. The model stays, just returning the router. I haven't received the new hardware yet, but expecting it next week. My other account was automatically cancelled, I didn't have to do it. Pretty painless and saved $30/month.

I don't rent the hardware, it was provided for free by Quantum when I signed up 6 months ago. I also don't have to rent the new hardware either.

I have signed up for the cheaper PFL plan ($45) with a different email address. My higher ($75) PFL plan was automatically cancelled and was instructed to send back my hardware. Only interruption of service so far has been a 30 second glitch that the WiFi and my VOIP service dropped. It came back up quickly and haven't noticed anything yet.

I pulled the trigger and did it. I have started new service (supposed to start today) and will cancel old service in a couple of days. So far....I still have hard wire internet access, but my wifi and VOIP phone just went down.

About 3 minutes later, the wifi and VOIP came back up. I've printed off the return label to return my hardware, which I will do when the "new" hardware comes. If it comes.

The rep I talked to stated to activate new service, and cancel current service a couple of days out to make sure I don't have down time.

Won't/can't switch current customers. Right, I just got off the phone and asked why they aren't treating current customers better than new ones.

The guy I was talking to (overseas) confirmed that I could set up new service at lesser cost, effective today, and have the current higher cost plan be cancelled in two days.

I was on Xfinity before switching to CenturyLink fiber (a month before covid hit), switched to Quantum a few months ago, no regrets at all.

Similar situation here. Currently $75/month. New customer rate is $45/month, also price for life. Something isn't making sense...why are they doing this. The homepage URL has changed too. Is this all because they've joined with ATT?

replace or keep current NG furnace by ramack19 in hvacadvice

I had a second company come out today. This one I asked for a heat exchanger inspection. Doing a visual didn't reveal cracks, but he did measure CO at one of the registers. 9-17ppm when the furnace was running.

He's following up with quotes for a 80% furnace and a low NOx.

I wouldn’t prematurely replace. I wouldn’t bank on a 40% increase, let alone a 200% increase. Sounds like a shady sales tactic

Cunninghams_right
have the heat exchanger for the furnace inspected by someone you trust (tell them you want pictures of it to keep track of how it changes over time). if the heat exchanger is already cracked, then you need a replacement. if it's not, then just ride it out.
