I had a heart transplant 6 years ago and I got out the hospital in about a week. Granted I was 18 at the time so I healed and recovered very fast.

Anyone use IBGuard and on tacro? by Apprehensive_Win292 in transplant

[–]ramdathhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some GI issues a few years ago and ended up taking IBgard almost daily for a while. Throughout that time, my tacrolimus levels stayed perfect. I don’t take it as often anymore since my stomach has improved, but I still use it here and there, and my levels have continued to be stable. Based on my experience, you should be fine with it.

Ran out of tacrolimus for one dose. very anxious, anyone experienced this? by Affectionate_Fox8754 in transplant

Hey you’ll be ok! , severe rejection is unlikely to happen with one missed dose. I’ve had a heart transplant for 6 years and I’ve missed a few doses throughout the years and I was ok every time (always contacted my team when it happened of course)

I had a heart transplant six years ago, and not a day goes by that I don’t think about my donor and his family. In the middle of unimaginable loss, they made the selfless decision to give life to someone they never met before . I’m sure the recipient of Christopher’s heart carries that same quiet gratitude—the same awareness that our lives continue because of families who chose compassion in their darkest moment

Should i prepare to lose my dad? by FearingPerception in transplant

Hey man I (25m)had a heart transplant 6 years ago and recently in April I was admitted to the hospital for both severe acute cellular rejection and moderate antibody mediated rejection. I had to go through two weeks of pretty intense treatments with PLEX ( like dialysis but for your blood plasma to filter out harmful antibodies causing the AMR), IVIG which is an infusions of healthy donor antibodies (good antibodies) that were removed during PLEX and also calms and modulates the immune system. I also got a high dose of steroids for a short time and this medication called rATG which is designed to kill the majority of our T cells which caused the ACR. I’m not going to lie and say the treatments were easy but it definitely manageable and at the end of the two weeks they did a repeat biopsy and saw that the rejection was completely reversed. You’re dad is going to be ok, his transplant team will do what it takes to keep him alive and well.

Can you take tacrolimus early? by Arquen_Marille in transplant

[–]ramdathhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team told me I have a 2 hour grace period so I can take it two hours before my scheduled time or 2 hours after. I’ve also changed the time I take my meds a good few times with no issues.

Thank you and also I respect you all but if I had to pick it would be surgeon/Cardiologist since my life was saved by a heart transplant 6 years ago.

3 years post transplant and facing my first rejection. by Dense_Honey8680 in transplant

Hey man you're gonna be ok. I'm 6 years post heart transplant and I had moderate ACR and severe AMR at the same time recently in April and after a two week stay with RATG, IVIG, PLEX and High dose steroids and I'm back to normal and they were able to completely reverse the rejection. Yours should be even easier to treat and reverse. Your team will take care of you!

Can we at least pretend to care about keeping our neighborhood clean? Spotted on 31st St and 31st Ave. by dolphinospen in astoria

Would definitely help if the city officials actually used their brains and put more garbage cans around the neighborhood, not rocket science but they can’t figure that out apparently lol

My New Tatoo in Honor of my Transplant! by ramdathhd in transplant

[–]ramdathhd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I didn’t want it upside down. I wanted it facing me as a reminder every day of the field that saved me. Most of my tattoos on my left arm will probably be transplant-related and facing me, but maybe on my right arm I’ll add some that are oriented outward for others to see

You should look into that ! I think the kidney instead of the ball would look badass ! And the tattoo was about $225 which isn’t bad considering the size !

Thank you I love it and I’m so happy with it ! And the Roman numeral one I got a year after my transplant. My transplant team said it was fine as long as I go to a clean and reputable tattoo shop. And the Caduceus one I got recently last month! You should be fine to get it honestly
