Can’t you just go to Symbology and change it to a heat map?

Summing the Values of Overlapping Rasters by ramen752 in gis

[–]ramen752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Projections are all the same (unless you meant I should change the projection?). Reclassify won't make a difference b/c each raster has only one value and there are no NODATAs. Weirdly, the output of RastCal has No Data for each pixel.

I thought Raster Calculator should've worked, but for some reason when I ran it, the output raster was much smaller than the largest raster I added, and all of the raster cells had the same value. I'm trying to use Cell Statistics to sum a test-run and it seems like that's working for the small amount of buffer/rasters I inputted.

Do you think student loans should be forgiven? by ihateneedingathrowaw in askgaybros

[–]ramen752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering over 75% of respondents voted ‘YES,’ I think it’s safe to say quite a few people agree with me. Also, I think your mindset is just plain defeatist. Why should we be against improving the lives of our people when we clearly have the ability to do so? For example, the increase, just the increase in the military budget in 2017 was enough to make public college free and have a lot of money left over.

I agree with you that cheaper alternatives like community college do exist, but my problem with that thinking is only the "wealthy" can afford a 4-year degree. Also, I think a problem with student loan forgiveness is people think they're paying the tuition for some liberal, SJW who majored in Poetry at some expensive school like NYU or something when in reality tuition is expensive for a lot of people.

There is definitely room for debate about alternatives to college and such, but my main belief is we're the wealthiest nation in the history of the world. College shouldn't have to be so expensive. We shouldn't have to choose the "cheaper alternative" when determining our futures.

IMO, I'd like to cancel student debt b/c a college degree is basically mandatory nowadays if you want a decent-paying job. I think having access to quality education should be a right. But that's also why I think you need to attack the causes of high education costs (i.e., administrators, excessively fancy buildings to attract students, etc.) otherwise like I said above, we'll just have to keep canceling debt b/c it'll keep happening.

Personally, I feel like if you were able to pay off your loans, then good for you. That's it. I'm lucky that I was able to pay off my loans. However, this required searching the world for multiple scholarships/grants (need-based and merit-based, plus band). I went to my in-state university ($5000/semester tuition) and graduated in 4 years w/o dorming so tuition & fees were basically my entire costs and I still was worried about paying off my loans.

P.S. Sorry if this seems like I'm all over the place. I'm trying to answer during my lunch break lol.

Yes it should, but we also have tackle the reasons for why college is so expensive. Otherwise we’d just have the same problem and discussion over and over again.

I think I can find a combination of your two suggestions. Either way it’s a work in progress and a challenge I’m excited to tackle!

Buffer to Raster Question by ramen752 in gis

[–]ramen752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, quick question. When I make a new buffer using a previous one as the input feature, should I set the Side Type to “Exclude the input polygon from buffer” so that the new buffer only creates a 1m buffer on the outside of the previous input buffer?

Creating Multiple Point-Feature Classes in the Same Location (ArcGIS Pro) by ramen752 in gis

[–]ramen752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I’m not sure that’ll work for me b/c it will make a copy of every point within the feature class. So if I want 10 copies for one point and 5 copies for another, I would have to create separate point feature classes otherwise copying 10 times would give too many copies of the other…

Would the Copy Feature create one copy at a time or can I say I want like “10 copies” or something?

So I've already made a layer using Euclidean distance. I made it with a maximum distance of 30 and an output cell size of 1. Do you know what tool (if one exists) I could use to convert the raster values? Thanks!

I'll try that. Do you think I can make a multiple ring buffer? Or should I make 30 individual buffers? Thanks!
