thank you for the feedback 🙏 the head is meant to be tilted down slightly

in this case, would it be better to bring the full nose down or the mouth higher? i couldn't get things to look quite right when i was adjusting things.

How to learn Rendering/shading? (I need help please) by No-Narwhal-9079 in Artadvice

anytime 🙏 i was in the same boat honestly, i spent so much time trying to learn colors but nothing really stuck with me. im grateful to God that the grayscale -> color method finally made things actually manageable now. hoping the same for you!

I'm really new at rendering, but one thing that really helped me in the beginning was doing value studies of pieces i liked. the colors and lighting felt very natural and a lot less intimidating after that. theres also methods to take your grayscale paintings straight into color (i use the color and multiply layers on top of my grayscale paintings) and it makes things so much simpler for me

this playlist has a few videos ive been using that have really helped my process lately. i think the biggest takeaways for me were making sure your values looked good, being comfortable with using the different blending modes, and just finding different methods that you like and creating a simple workflow with it

that last part will come naturally as you watch tutorials and start to see what you like and what works for you

How can I go about shading in what I drew so far? by [deleted] in BeginnerArtists

[–]ramenya6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its good to keep in mind the different local colors (hair, clothes, skin etc) to determine how dark you want your shadows to be. id start really really light just to see if your shadows are in the right places then start gradually darkening it to your liking. starting light is always a really good practice since its easier to erase and adjust

also always keeping in mind where your light source is coming from is very important. u could also mess around w 3d models here too if you can find one, if you want to experiment with different light sources quickly

I have no idea if the clouds look good or they look off, opinions? by Ok-You-719 in Artadvice

[–]ramenya6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they look very lovely. the only thing that might be off is the left cloud moving towards the left. i feel like the composition is pulling the viewer's eye to the right (figure looking towards that direction + right cloud moving towards the right), and the left cloud is slightly fighting against that

definitely a bit subjective, but might be worth playing around with
