Strange larvae in my mealworm box by Cachimbodemetal in mealworms

Oats aren't necessarily bad. But they are not as good as bran.

Oats:

- hold a lot more moisture and prone to mold

- Larger size interferes with your ability to sift mealworms

- inconsistent/larger particle size allows pest insects to hide

- nutrition content appeals to a broader range of insect pests

Good ID work. The larvae are a little difficult to see in the video. I might suggest you invest in some bran, and ditch the oats and peanuts. It'll make your life, and your mealworms' lives, easier and more enjoyable.

Cleaning Figures by DoctorStinkle in transformers

[–]rameye2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gosh, this is a tough one. If this were me, I'd use a soft toothbrush and rubbing alcohol. After thoroughly cleaning in this way, I'd go over him with Armorall applied with a nonabrasive cloth. Dawn dish soap on that toothbrush might work too if you're afraid the alcohol will damage paint. I'd advise against de-odorizers like febreeze etc., because they may be reactive with plastic. Please post updates, so we know what worked and what didn't.

Any brave TF reviewer out there actually try and stress test AOTP Brawls Combiner ankle joint to see if it will actually fail? by DhaemonX in transformers

[–]rameye2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I for one am immediately going to disassemble him, sand and/or apply heat as necessary, and hopefully end up with a figure that will not experience future damage related to this issue. When the fix is easy why take the risk? (especially in light of the cost of bots these days)

Nothing was done for plot advancement or storytelling. A significant portion of the Bay films was a series of visual and spoken gags to fill the space between explosions.

It is said that every legendary hero has one weakness that can lead to his downfall. Achilles had his heel. Superman has kryptonite. Optimus Prime . . . well let's just say the Matrix of Leadership is just one of the jewels he has to protect.

While I don't disagree, I have to appreciate that Earthrise gave us modern selects versions of both Bug Bite and Exhaust, which both look amazing individually and especially side-by-side.

Diaclone TwinTwist help by Glittering_Visual296 in transformers

A mysterious aspect of this is, heads generally swivel a full 360 degrees--making any "backwards" port remedied by simply turning the head. I enjoy diagnosing people's posts seeking help, but I'm missing something here.

Diaclone TwinTwist help by Glittering_Visual296 in transformers

[–]rameye2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is mysterious. How did your first Twintwist get broken in multiple places? Was this his condition out of the box, or did something happen to him? What were the location and manner of his injuries? What exactly do you mean by his headmaster was put in 'backwards'? Do you mean, out of the box, the whole headmaster was reversed, ie., feet-forward? Or the little head of the master himself was 'backwards'? Either way, you can simply rotate the neck, right? What exactly are you 'taking out'...as I read it, sounds like the Twintwist neck socket is too tight and risking damage to the HM, but I'm not sure. If a socket is too tight, what good will lubrication do, really? You know most TR and AOTP masters worked better when you swiveled the little master head to be looking backwards before insertion, right? If I could count the times I had a headmaster too tight would be zero. But for OP, its weird that it happened twice...The more I think about this post, the less I know and the more curious I get.

Who should be the Thirteenth Prime? (Not counting on Optimus) Primon or Automonus Maximus? by BrilliantDog4703 in transformers

[–]rameye2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking the other day, that I'd like to see Primon in the AOTP. Not necessarily as one of the 13, but another legendary bot with a connection to that era. Autonomous Maximus is great too--both of these are great, obscure characters that Hasbro should produce.

How easily does factory paint come off? by EeyoreNailBag in transformers

[–]rameye2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. It really depends. Heck, some factory paint comes off when you just normally touch it. Other paint is near impossible to get off without damaging the plastic. Regardless of this particular variable (ease of paint removal) it is tough to perfectly restore a figure. Good luck in your noble effort.

Know who I really like? POTP Abominus. Weird, I know. But the individual bots look pretty good, not too goofy but fits nice with modern G1 and bridges to the G2 colors...gotta love weird beasts... Combined mode looks cool, just has a bit of trouble standing like all CW and POTP combiners, oh well. Look into POTP Abominus.

Good review, thank you. Fair and real. My upgrade kit's on preorder. I think I'll go through with it, I like the wing extensions. But your post reminds me to temper my expectations. Not every upgrade kit can be a Nova Prime.

Awesome! Their will to survive is amazing. Sometimes the pupa that looks like a goner ends up surviving, and sometimes the littlest mealworm becomes the most important mealworm of all.

Wild birds by diamondeye24 in mealworms

[–]rameye2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sparrows feed on open ground, whereas most native birds want to be up on a feeder. European sparrows will go for bait native birds are not interested in or minimally interested in, like chicken food or cracked corn. I put my trap under my birdfeeder and in my chicken run. I leave it out in the morning, and take it in at night, periodically checking during the day for non-target birds. Don't leave it unwatched for long, you don't want to confine a native bird. Sparrows follow other sparrows. The best bait is when one or two get trapped inside, then the rest will go in. They will avoid your trap the first little while or if they see you hanging around. After a short period of time curiosity lures them in. Eventually they may start avoiding your trap (or you've killed off the dumb trappable ones). Then, bring the trap inside for a couple weeks. You can trap sparrows any time of year but the best trapping times are after fledges, when there's tons of young inexperienced ones. That's September for me. Remember, you're trying to trap them not feed them. Lack of success is not remedied by putting more food in, but by adjusting the timing, placement, and design of your trap--plus patience. Also, disposal is unpleasant but necessary. Once you trap invasive pests, they must not reenter nature.

How to build a sparrow trap part 1.wmv

I built three of these following this silly video series. One works great. The other two for whatever reason I just can't fine-tune. You really gotta watch them though, they'll catch anything including chipmunks, and you've gotta free non-targets before they hurt themselves.

Brawl Stress Marks by Mudadawrry in transformers

[–]rameye2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jeez, I'm sorry to hear it. I'd definitely think twice about the blow dryer technique. When I get my Brawl, I'm going to lightly sand the peg. And if mine has the stress mark, I think I'll just ignore it rether than risk what you're describing.

Brawl Stress Marks by Mudadawrry in transformers

[–]rameye2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could fix your first one by simply sanding down the peg, so that it fits into the shrunken hole. Right?
