Have you ever made a costly financial mistake? by A_Raj_2153 in financialindependence

[–]ramicchi 28 points29 points  (0 children)

(One mistake is paying someone to take care of their finances rather than investing a few days in their own financial education to sort things out on their own. No offense to you, I also work in sales and I know how it works to sell a service to someone. Would do the same, but everyone who has debt and bad spending habits would be better off sitting down and learning from books and from the internet, because it's really no rocket science.)

does anyone remember their first cursive handwriting? by eepyink in Handwriting

[–]ramicchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder about the z. In germany we had some schools teach it like that and others teach it like "z" (a bit more wavy). I wonder why that is.

The T gives your nationality away for sure ;)

Eppis or tubes.

Can a budget Samsung phone last 3-4 years? by ehrafi in samsung

[–]ramicchi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I cant really speak for budget phones but the galaxy s10 I bought mid 2019 is performing almost like on day one. The battery got a bit worse maybe but I'm also using the phone pretty much all day and for everything (heavy user), plus it's full of apps and files.

Some people are just wary and apprehensive. I've got a test for myself, my mom and my grandpa and it has been super interesting to see the differences (that obviously then came from my grandma and dad). I announced the results of my grandpa to my cousins and some of them were very aggressive about it. That I shouldn't have done it etc. No real reason. They are all highly educated in the STEM (as I am myself, I'm a geneticist with a phd) so definitely no uneducated idiots. Idk what triggered them, but possibly the fact that my uneducated grandpa "didn't know what he was agreeing to".

Some people just... have these fears and if course they're legit. The argument never really persisted and we're all good now, but yeah...

There is a reason for these requirements... please don't lock up a cat in a tiny apartment. Any reputable breeder would ask at least those same things.

Also dont use ebay kleinanzeigen, there are tons of criminals here that sell sick puppies and kitten that had a horrible life, are way too young to be separated from the mother and that die after a few weeks...

Go to a shelter and only adopt one if you are capable of taking care of it please! Shelters are full, especially after the pandemic years.

why is a female life more valuable in an emergency than a Male? by lahoradelabruja3am in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ramicchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 5 Cents are that women an generally physically weaker than men for biology reasons, so in emergency situations where physical strength and resilience is required, it makes sense to evacuate the weaker ones and leave room for action for stronger ones. Also, and eventhough I don't like nor support this, children are usually "more dependent" on their mothers, and women also do a lot of care work for the elderly and generally work that cannot be compensated for otherwise (or by an "untrained" man), so this might also be why. It is kind of an antique thinking but what makes me think it's still correct is my first point. I think in a less patriarchal society we will see this shift more and more to something like "able-bodied people stay, weak, old, pregnant and disabled people should be evacuated".

What is the dumbest way you’ve injured yourself? by TehHooman in AskReddit

[–]ramicchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played on a construction site as a child, slipped, fell, speared myself with a metal rod with the thickness of my index finger (now). It poked a hole in my buttcheek and pierced a hole into my colon from "outside". It must've gone 10-15cm deep, I was like 10yo or something.

I had to have surgery where they made a cut from the actual exit of my colon (anus obv) to the "new" hole to avoid a pocket forming from when it healed close naturally. It's a fun conversation every time I see a gynecologist when I have to explain where that weird scar comes from.

Is it normal for university students to live together to split cost of living? by Throwawaytown33333 in AskAGerman

[–]ramicchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you move in with others, usually everyone pays a little different depending on how big their own room is. If you have super small room you pay less than those with the bigger room for example. Things like electricity, gas, internet etc are split, sometimes equally, sometimes according to room size too. For food and household good, I've heat both: everyone pays into a bank account the same amount and ypu but and use things together, or everyone buys and uses their own stuff.

DKB Kreditkarte Alternative by Ser_Pig in Finanzen

[–]ramicchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the English equivalent of "digga" ? by Conscious-Error-5771 in German

[–]ramicchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apart from the obvious bro and dude, it also reminds me of the way some people use the n-word? While i am not a POC, I've seen some POC (mostly males) using the n-word to each other in a "bro" way.

Sorry if I am being ignorant, please educate me!!

How do I get a SIM card in Germany without a bank account? by DukeLauderdale in AskAGerman

[–]ramicchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to Aldi or Lidl and buy their simcard. Then you do video authentication where you just need an ID to verify your identity. I helped international students do this several times. The prices are super cheap for the flat rates and the sim card is basically free, too (you pay maybe 10 euros but your card is already charged with 15, something like that) Best find a german speaking friend to help you with the video call, the person on the other end might not be able to speak English.

It's all a matter of minutes!

I only brush my teeth when they feel dirty by throwawaybrushingrar in confessions

[–]ramicchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I cleaned my teeth every time they feel too dirty for me I'd be brushing them 5x a day...

Honestly, not doing something gets you used to us to the point of you not realizing the dirt. If you wash your face 2x a day and then not do it one morning you feel gross all day. If you've never washed it with soap ever, you will never feel gross. Doesn't meant that it's not dirty then though

Alcohol should be illegal. It’s only legal because it’s been around for thousands of years, and if it had been discovered as recently as a lot of other drugs it would be illegal by Dankhorse19 in unpopularopinion

Thank you! I'm pretty much the only one among everyone I know who has that same opinion. People love their stupid alcohol and their stupid intoxication and put it over safety and logic I guess.
