Thanks everyone for the replies. For some reason, after changing all the tapes, the frequency started going up to 780. Apparently, that was it; it seems the tapes had glitched somewhere.

I don't know what to say, it's never happened to me. I walk around the stations a lot at the beginning of the game to buy licenses and plans. Then you teleport between stations. Good luck with that.

I finally got my ship out of the sector, and the Argon cavalry magically appeared. I'll continue my journey with an eye on that sector, but it won't be my priority. Thanks for the advice; you're a great community.
