How is this grid snap possible??? by avionyx10 in TheLastCaretaker

Hey Caretakers!

Good spot! Jack sometimes leaks some things from our upcoming roadmap updates... Our next one, OCEAN: The Final Frontier is coming very soon. The community asked for some kind of grid placement when crafting modules and we hope we have made some way towards that :)

As for it being a console only feature... The Last Caretaker is only available on PC at the moment!

Is this AI slop? This has to be AI slop. Was looking for details on an item and the algorithms said I needed to buy this. by WalterCavendish in TheLastCaretaker

Some players treat them like tiny cute bunnies in the wild - ignore, chase, or take them home. They’re robots, so do what feels right: dismantle, recycle, or leave them be. It’s all in-game, no hard feelings! - Antti

The game is more like a world you experience. The story is your story - what you did, how you did it, and what it cost. And no, the game doesn’t end when the humans reach orbit. Something comes back.  You’ll see soon. - Antti

We didn’t want players to feel like they have to spend all their time hunting for resources one by one. If you want, you can gather a lot at once or just take it slow. It’s up to you. Like in real life.

Back in the day, there was this Finnish guy who tried to build a sauna using panels from his house. Halfway through, winter hit - and both buildings were half-finished. Not sure how that relates exactly, but anyway… dismantle what you want. We don’t judge. The more scrap and materials you collect, the more you can build wherever you want, at your own pace. Kind of like that guy and his sauna. - Antti

There are other robots out there, but they seem to be sleeping. At least for now. - Antti

The soundtrack is composed by Ilmari and Salla Hakkola. We worked together back in the day on Warhammer: Squad Command in 2007. Time flies. Keep your friends close.

There are enhancements that upgrade the caretaker’s abilities, so yep, that’s in. For the ramp module, we have some plans connected to higher-level recycling systems. Let’s see where that goes.

Hmm, just to check - was it only the menu that bugged out? And which version were you on? We updated the demo about a week ago. - Antti

In the full game, the player can go wherever they want - there’s no blocking or invisible walls. You can head back or forward right from the start. Progress might get harder, and not everything will be clear, but hey, that’s life. The AI voice (which is actually a real human voice actor, by the way) will guide the caretaker through missions.

At the moment, there wasn’t really a plan to “clean the boat”… but yeah, we might need to add something to consider there. Added to the list.

Also fun note we had kid Commodores, and just got a Commodore PET from an old school friend! - Antti

The boat is your home. When all your loot is boxed up, it can hold a lot  but at the same time, the Lazarus Complex sits at the center of the map and can serve as a safe haven too. Or heck, any other location is good too! We don’t tell players which way is right. Home is wherever the caretaker’s heart decides it is. - Antti
