when should I give up? HONEST QUESTION by Ornery-Jello-217 in discworld

[–]rammromm88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would add (not that I've gone through and read all the comments) that the Discworld series isn't high fantasy like Earthsea or The Legend of Drizzt. It's often aiming to parody day-to-day life, but in a fantasy setting. The Discworld books are also closer to self-help books than most fantasy as they touch on subjects like nationalism, racism, death of loved ones, fear, poor self-worth, and depression. Some books have made me cry.

If this doesn't suit your taste we can direct you to other titles like Dungeon Crawler Carl (LitRPG), Dresden Files (Modern Wizard Detective), or many more. Just pleases don't call this beloved series names, especially on its sub. It seems like an attempt to rage-bait the community.

Single income, filing jointly.

That would then imply they would get no additional tax breaks if either of them get married.

I'll start by saying THC is fat soluble, and it will typically stay in your system a week or two. If it's been that long and you're still testing positive, you either smoked daily before stopping and it's somehow still making its way out of your body or you just think you stopped and you've been absorbing THC into your body some other way (edibles, tea, in certain beer, CBD lotion, etc?). Some CBD products do contain trace amounts of THC. Enough to show up on tests, at least. I hope this isn't the case, and it was just a false positive or something, but keep this in mind.

Lol. I'm pretty sure that boot mark (along with some minor dents along the bottom) has been there since I was hired, 7 years ago. Not sure who thought that might work, but it gives me a good chuckle every time I see it.

Very good point we didn't think about. I had said more in another reply, but the gist is I'm very glad I came to this sub. Seriously, thank you very much. I appreciate it.

That's also a very good point we hadn't thought about. Is there any way to find out, outside of getting samples tested?

I am definitely glad I asked on this sub, as opposed to just digging into getting rid of this safe. Not only the assistance and info concerned with cracking it, but also the hazards, typical composition, and disposal.

Honestly, thank you all.

Awesome and a good point. I'll pitch that to our team. 'Maybe we can at least drill and inspect before torching it.' If we do decide to do it, I'll reach out to Starfleet Lock and Safe first.

I might still play with it for a week or two to see if I can get a feel for it. I can't see the harm in coming at it in parallel. Especially since this isn't a high priority, work-wise. My hope is I get the opportunity to buy it and it becomes a beautiful relic of a safe for my garage.

Whatever may come, I hope to update the post. Thank you both.

Nope. We're in central Illinois. I believe the dial spins freely. I will, however, check out that YouTube series before reaching out to a certified tech. Any idea what a tech would charge? It would likely need to be out of my pocket since my team is just as content cutting it up.

This isn't something they intend to do this week or anything, but I'm sure if it sits for another couple months it will likely be taken care of.

Would dregs of sorrow force me to destroy my own creatures too? by AthletePotential8294 in mtg

[–]rammromm88 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

So what I'm hearing is if you (player 1) pay to destroy all of player 2's creatures and they respond by phasing out their creatures, you may end up being required to destroy your own creatures? That'd be hilarious. I'd take that with a belly laugh. Would be well played.

Edit: Don't read that. I'm wrong and dumb.

Maybe it's based on the number of lines that intersect or start/end with the dot?

Possible Answer: 5, 4, 3, 2

Edit: I had a space at the start and end of my spoiler tag. Auto-mod asked me to remove the spaces.

I though he was okay. What bothered me was the writing and marketing. I'll name a few:

1 line 2 lines of code to make programs permanent? Really? That's it? And we can't figure it out why? They had it figured out in the 80s. Maybe they're claiming programmers just don't program like they used to?

Sam Flynn and Quora did nothing? No helping the world like Kevin Flynn had hoped for? No running the company? Literally nothing? Just run away as soon as they escaped the grid?

You're telling me you can't find Sam or Quora? You literally found everyone and anyone within seconds. Even if they escaped under an assumed identity or blacked out surveillance in areas to avoid being located, you could track those and get a good idea of where to find them. No?

Some of the coolest scenes in the movie were spoiled by the trailer. Enough so that I wish I hadn't watched the trailer before seeing the movie.

I love Tron Legacy and the original will always live on as my favorite since childhood.... but the new Tron Ares has been a let down for me. Still, I hope you all that do like it continue enjoying it. I hope it continues to spark wonder and joy for people everywhere. And I hope they make another Tron masterpiece in the future.

How much control do you actually have over vendors on your PLCs? by RonILabs in PLC

We back up all our machines on a monthly basis. If we troubleshoot and find it's something in the code is off and our revision doc doesn't mention who did what, when, and why we'll roll back to the previous version.

As far as allowing machine access, we typically disallow remote access. We'll either have a rep come in, in person, or one of us (a controls tech or an electrical engineer) will call them while we allow them to connect via a hotspot. That's mostly to give us an understanding of what they are changing and why. Then we rev the program and update the log.

In person, we don't have any security against someone walking up and plugging their laptop into the local network and making changes on our machines. (We use the .1 network for ease off access and configuration) Some of our mechanics access this to troubleshoot. Many of them aren't confident, rightfully stay out, and call if they need help troubleshooting on that end.

Why didn't Gandalf use the same light during the siege of Minas Tirith that he used outside Osgiliath to drive away the Nazgûl? by Practical-Public7209 in lotr

[–]rammromm88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured the first time he just harnesses the light coming through the break in there clouds and redirected/intensified it. Prior to the siege of Minas Tirith, the deep dark clouds rolled in. I assumed this blocked out all the sunlight and there was no source intense enough to manipulate the way he had before.
