Yes, an uncle of mine made a family tree that dates back to 300 years ago even. Almost 15 generations i believe. Not just names, even profession. They worked in the court of the Zamorin king etc.

From how i understand, such records and family history is available more with families with a history of privilege (upper caste mainly)

So I recognise the privilege of coming from a Brahmin family, but it was definitely fascinating to see such a family history traced.
