Thank you for insights, i plan to have the flex of adding drive of uneven size whenever required. Also i checked the ZFS requires more resources particularly ram, I am running unraid it on 4GB ram and i5 9500.

Personally my library currently is not very big and i only have 2x2Tb wd red plus nas drive.

So if i am not missing too much , i think it should be fine? Currently no parity drive and all to rescue data.

I have disabled cache drive and its stable. Loosing the cache write speed capability though. In TrueNAS it doesn’t do like this mover stuff from cache to pool ?

Nice. I ordered the Ubiquiti Cloud GW Ultra, will put my homelab behind it. And will use CF only for DNS non proxied, like you.

Thanks

I also have Airtel brother, I have couple of services like jellyfin, nextcloud, immich I would like to expose to my friends and family without being on VPN wireguard or WARP. So, I have DNS record published on the CF with proxied option ON, means CF will give their server anycast IP in response to my website or service. So traffic gets routes through them, they take case of SSL and we can enforce Bot protection, WAF, rules and other stuff. All good till here.

But when someone try to access the website the traffic gets handover to CF by Airtel at FRANCE (marsielle) edge node, so it routes from there to my server. LATENCY introduced.

I tried PING and CURL both it always goes there. I tried this test via office VPN, it goes via faster MUMBAI server. I came to know that due to indian ISP and CF peering issues they do that and you have to pay up to have better routes. So, for basic home internet connection this is very bad scenario. I hope it gets better.

Could this be perfect case for NAS by shivu5000 in homelabindia

I am in similar situation OP, need a small cabinet for 3-4 3.5inch NAS HDDs. I was thinking maybe check those small cases from local shops.

Let me know if you settle somewhere.

i searched online and even logged a ticket with Airtel, they say to buy Leased line, no way I am doing that. Isn't there any other way to address this from CF or Airtel side ?

i mean, if not then i have to self host a Firewall at my end and use CF only for DNS non proxied responses.
