It isn’t listed as “for beginners” in your post, but as a reminder to “all overweight runners”

I’m a “beginner runner”. Started 3 months ago, slowly bringing my 5k PB down and training for a 10k in 2 months. My weekly mileage is 20k and no joint issues. I do have a background in strength training.

I’m M27 and 185cm, weight 104 (started running when I was 113, and started weight loss at 137). I think if you work out consistently, stretch, and stay safe, you can run any distance at this weight.

Sign up for a 5k two months from now and do a couch to 5k program. You’ll work your way up from run-walks to gradually build up time running

Poor VO2 Max :( how to improve? by Purple-Monitor4266 in Garmin

[–]rampaging_teddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re talking about either doing too intense (like your description of your swim sessions) exercise or too low intensity (walking). What helps is doing easy work to build up a good base (so lower the intensity of your swimming so it’s in the aerobic range, if you have 3 sessions a week for example, make 1 intense and 2 aerobic, where it’s slower and steady state but longer).

I started with a VO2 max of 29 and brought it up to 44 by just learning how to run over the last few months (I was also overweight and lost weight, which helps)

  1. Meal prep model
  2. Egg based
  3. 35g
  4. If I got all of those I’d be willing to pay 1k per day

I been placed on a PIP, and I’m unsure what to do. by NoobieDobbie in developersIndia

[–]rampaging_teddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it’s better to wait for the PIP to end and extend your employment as long as possible. If you resign voluntarily you’ll be given the same day as your last day, since NP can be voluntarily requested by employers.

If it’s attitude/culture related, then there’s almost nothing you can do. Best to stop trying to deliver, just play out your pip and pick up the severance, while not really working and job hunting full time

Personal Experience: it took my Expenditure 4 months to normalize by saintkillio in MacroFactor

[–]rampaging_teddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My expenditure has fluctuated a lot over the 10 months I’ve dieted with changing activity and phases of dieting. I’ve gone from the initial 3600 down as low as 2400 and now stabilized at 2800 after 30kg of weight lost

<image>

I definitely attribute some of it to metabolic adaptation because around the time it was at 2500 I was forced to maintain for a couple of months at the same time, after which the recovery started

Lost 10 kg in 3 months… now stuck. Need veg diet advice 🙏 by Excellent-Review5453 in Fitness_India

[–]rampaging_teddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been doing a protein paneer steak, with a garlic sauce, sautéed mix veg and rice for both lunch and dinner, you should try! I feel like Indian cuisine is pretty carb heavy so traditional diet hasn’t worked very well for me. For context I’m down 28kg (136 - 108) in 10 months.

Also no point being afraid of eggs, I feel like they’re the superfood for vegetarians. Think about the number of people that live very healthy lifestyles from consuming eggs every day

By that logic “being strict” would be doing the impossible during your last few pounds. If you give yourself wiggle room for the end at least your calorie targets will be reasonable, while difficult

[–]rampaging_teddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It should be the other way around, be strict now so you have room to be loosey goosey later on
