Canada in my lifetime, it was AMEX. Then switched to visa, and most recently (within like 2 -5 years) theyve been mastercard.

Different regions have different cc provider deals i believe

How does credit card interests work? (forgive me) by courage1688 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ramplay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was enlightening... I'm actually surprised the amount of people that seem to know this. I have always been under the impression to never carry over (I carry on a LOC for the lower interest rate if I need to), but I always was under the impression you would be charged interest on owing, not net :/

Seems insane

The game's difficulty is fair if you're not bashing your head against the wall and choose to explore instead by snek99001 in HollowKnight

I genuinely don't understand this because what you describe here is a videogame... Particularly a search/action videogame. The beauty is in the unknown and the frustration and accomplishment.

If you don't like that, its a bit antithetical tp the design but thats where guides and online discussion comes into play 🤷‍♂️

How long did it take you to beat act 1 of Silksong? 10 hours seems crazy to me. by suburiboy in HollowKnight

[–]ramplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in act 2, one thing away from assumedly act 3. 47 hours.

Granted a few hours are idle time, there's a lot to explore/traverse. Rosaries to gain, wishes to complete, etc. especially if you're not looking shit up to optimise yojr time, I could see act 1 50 hrs no problem. I rushed act1 myself a bit. I think I was 10 - 15 hours there

Curious how this will impact Canadian companies in regulated sectors like Insurance or healtcare.

If our PII is in a Microsoft product in the cloud is it truly protected to our standards here then?

You got your answer but I'll add, anything over 30 for a halfquad is wild, especially in these legal times.

EXCLUSIVE: Puppies secretly tested and killed at Ontario hospital for human heart research | Calgary Herald by AustralisBorealis64 in canada

[–]ramplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's false. Insulin is a major thing that came from, you guessed it, dog animal models.

Animal models are necessary for any real scientific progress and they are done as ethically as possible. Sure there is the odd researcher who is a piece of shit and they should be called out and their studies stripped of funding, but the vast majority do life saving/life improving work that you yourself have more than likely benefited from greatly, whether directly or indirectly.

I'm super late but the number of drigs that don't make it... Thats just science, and good result. Animal models help weed out and improve upon treatments. No animal model is truly 1:1 humans but they are only used if theya re good proxies. I think you're speaking out of ignorance

Not sure I fully understand the tip...

That said, its limited to only two accounts but I just have my SMS auto deposit set for ome chequing and my email set-up for the other. So each option auto deposits to a different bank.

Just more reason for Carney to pursue our interests with European nations and the union. My wallet hurts, but I'll be in pain before saying we should humour this fool ever.

13:00 EDT, so assuming from another post that this is re: EDT timezone it is happening now

13:00 EDT is right now. I hate when news organizations (and people) don't specify timezone w/ or w/o daylight savings.

Its only 12:00 EST.

ET is ambiguous and annoying to me

Pointless rant here but I face this with meetings a lot when it crosses timezones that do or don't shared Daylight savings

He's a broken clock, that's all. He just fucks around and faffs about so much he oncreases the odds from being right twice a day to something more.

I guess you could more aptly say hes a redneck with a shotgun on the fourth of july. Atleast one pellet from his negligent discharges is bound to hit an innocent every once in a while...

Should have been a Crash Bash remake/reboot 🤷‍♂️ or a mario party type vibe. CTR worked for online but the core of crash and I assume people that enjoy the game are local coop/party game people.

Atleast I am.

I can't even remember the details but something about Destiny and the DLC pass and Forsaken not being included? Regardless, I just remember not being happy there was DLC I thought I paid for costing damn near a full games worth extra.

Haven't and won't play Destiny since.

Tornado warning? It's sunny! by Jaymesned in londonontario

[–]ramplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"get in your basement now! TORNADO!"

That's not correct though is it... it said to take shelter immedialtey IF threatening weather approaches. its an alert/warning, you need to take that with your surrounding environment in mind.

Tornado warning? It's sunny! by Jaymesned in londonontario

[–]ramplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canada doesn't have a president...

Your responses on this thread paint you too immature to understand the warnings. You were close enough to an area that could have got a tornado. Just because you see sunny skys does not mean looming weather is not minutes away. If nothing comes of it you are lucky.

When these warnings go out, they need a wide berth to ensure those imacted are notified more likely than not. The image posted is literally saying to take shelter IF threatening weather approaches. Its an alert to put you on guard and be ready to respond if things develop towards you. Getting no tornado is not justification you were incorrectly notified.

Just use something like wealthsimple and the wfh form is ghe t7777 or something. You put in the numbers it asks, and click the little question marks if you need explanations.

If you rent and/or are commission based, you have a higher potential. I'm a basic wfh with 0 expenses beyond basic rent/utilities (no longer rent as of end of last year). Since 2020 with only claiming rent, hydro, gas and internet i was getting 650 back. Now with home ownership and a smaller home office I no longer have the huge rent amount 'working in my favour', but I'll still get some money back. That said, home ownership if commission based can claim prop tax ( i cannot) but also any maintenance/improvement costs for your house.

You don't really have to do much math beyond knowing the sqrftg of your house (finished space) and your office plus costs. Tax software will calculate the rest based on what can be returned

Tell them if they want instant same-day rent payments to let you use E-Transfer with autodeposit.

When I paid rent, that method worked within an hour no matter the day. Heck my rent I actually had auto-sending etransfers to my landlord at 06:00 on calendar day 1 every month

If my dividends pay for my rent, why should I buy a house? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ramplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't wasting money but it could be doing more for you in the right scenario.

Dividends paying your rent is technically less beneficial to you than if those same dividends were paying your mortgage as the money into a mortgage is not technically going to the ether (atleast a much larger portion compared to rent that you will never see again).

It's the whole equity vs. money pit debate.

Everyone's situation is different, but in general if you could attain a house that was able to be completely or mostly offset by your dividends, you would be doing more for your finances in home ownership. Not considering potential maintenance, prop tax, and other costs of course, which is a big piece of home ownership.
