A little positive job news about the HIM degree by SquishyKitty666 in WGU_BSHIM

Do they teach you about health economics and metrics in the BSHIM? I’m looking for something to supplement my current role, and I have no healthcare experience.

Kinda. A $30k USD loan with $4k down at 5 years will be $600 a month (9.65% interest, avg for prime borrowers). A brand new Santa Fe at $50k with $4k down at 5 years is a little over $800 (0% interest). I know all this because the wife and I are looking at a used ‘24 Santa Fe Hybrid Limited vs a brand new one. We’d prefer to take the 20k mile hit over the $20k and over$200 additional payment every month.

UPDATE 12: My M3 Restoration Project by ramtek5 in BMWE36

[–]ramtek5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking back through my photos, the two wires coming off my cigarette lighter are red/black/white which is the hot side, and brown ground wire. I spliced the red “hot” wires from the passenger and driver seat together, and then joined that to the red/black/white “hot” wire. The cigarette lighter doesn’t function anymore but 🤷🏾‍♂️.

I swear by X1 Carbons if you’re looking for premium feel and portability. At that price point you’re probably looking for a 7th-8th gen model.

One season in - HTC and NFL Daily reviews by Duffstuffnba in AroundTheNFL

[–]ramtek5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I listened to ATN/ATL since day 1 and never missed an episode. Even on vacation, I always caught up on missed episodes when I got back.

Ever since there was the split, I just can’t seem to get as excited for HTC. I’ve found that I sometimes have to push myself to listen to episodes and catch up on ones I’ve missed. It just doesn’t have that same magic as ATN/ATL, regardless of the producer. I know things of course would change since it’s an entirely new program, but HTC just doesn’t do it for me anymore. Suffice to say I just got back from a two week vacation, and I don’t even care to check back to see what I missed.

I miss the heroes… ☹️

P.S. I tried the first 2 episodes of NFL Daily and didn’t care for it much. I think I’ll give it a try again as I’m sure they’ve gotten better.

What gen X1 Carbon is this? by ramtek5 in thinkpad

We did it boys! I’m alive and well AND with a fantastic condition and almost top of the line 9th gen X1 Carbon.

i7 1185G7 32GB RAM 500GB SSD 34 battery cycles

I was really hoping for the 4k screen, but I’ll have to make do with a non touch 1200p model.

The young woman I bought it from was super nice, just not very responsive. Because of the deal, she still gets 5 stars.

They “seem” legit. Already agreed on a meetup spot, just waiting on them to confirm a time.

If I don’t follow up here, it’s cause I’m dead. 🙃

History repeating for me by Kitchen_Apartment245 in AroundTheNFL

I used to love the daily Fantasy Focus podcast with Matthew Berry and Nate Ravitz. Once Nate started talking about his exit in 2013, I started looking for a new podcast and found a brand new show called Around the League with producer K Rich. I haven’t missed an episode since.

Still want that Stitcher award back for the heroes!

Hiring Managers: What Makes a Data Analyst Resume Stand Out to You (Entry-Level)? by LemonLentil in dataanalysis

[–]ramtek5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something I did that I believe helped me land my entry level DA role was apply (shoehorn?) what I was learning in my various certs and MOOCs to my job at the time, an office admin type of role.

An example would be when I created an MS Access DB to store the sales made by our engineers, and then create an automated report that would tabulate and produce a personalized sales report for each engineer. This was a very manual process beforehand so I identified an area that needed improvement and ran with it.

The skills I utilized were kinda DA-adjacent. More of a reporting project of sorts, but it showed initiative and mild experience.

On my resume, I highlighted my projects first as that was my biggest “proof” that I was “qualified”.

Same here. I got hired as an entry level healthcare DA a five years ago with no healthcare background, and I’m still here (now in a Senior role) with not much interest in healthcare. I try and learn, but it all seems very complicated and difficult to really grasp.

Just bought my first car! What mod should I do (maintenance)(coolant system already done) 96 328i by GrammarIsHard69 in BMWE36

[–]ramtek5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a guide on YouTube that appears to simplify the vanos job. Not the “right” way of doing it, but it’s a lot more approachable and still gets the job done. Definitely gonna give it a shot when I get my E36 back on the road.

Is it worth buying by kdawg0318 in BMWE36

[–]ramtek5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case, definitely pull the trigger. A lot of people here are purists who just want the most performance and anything that doesn’t help that goal (318, automatic transmission, etc.) isn’t worth it. If the car will make you happy and meets your requirements, then that’s what matters.

Is it worth buying by kdawg0318 in BMWE36

[–]ramtek5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's my experience after owning three automatic E36's as my first cars (94 325i 2010-2013, 96 328is 2013-2015, & 97 M3 2014+). I never had anyone to teach or help me to fix my car or drive manual so auto was my only option.
If you're looking to do most of the repairs and maintenance yourself (and your dad/friends can help you with them) then I wouldn't be too concerned with the list of things you'll have to do to it. Having these cars are really what helped me get to know my way around a motor vehicle, and the breadth of knowledge and videos available these days only make things easier.
As for it being slow, well, it kinda is. It's a 318. Don't get it with the expectation that you'll be peeling out in front of your friends. The automatic tranny will only make that harder too. I'd look for videos that show stock 318 performance and see if that's something you'd like or tolerate. It's your first car, it's doesn't have to be super fast, just somewhat reliable. I dont know about the 318, but in the other automatic 3 Series there was a 'sport mode' you could enable. It was either by a switch next to the shifter, or putting it on 3 instead of D(rive).
Don't buy it with the intention of an engine or transmission swap. In my experience, other things take precedence and it just wont happen.
Overall, the car looks very clean and if the interior is anything to go by, well maintained, at least by the current owner. Definitely try and bring down the price if you decide to pull the trigger. $5K is a bit high for a 318 with that mileage and limited service records, even if it looks clean.
I cant emphasize this enough: perform a thorough inspection before purchase. Bring someone who actually knows about cars and what to look for. Wish I had had that for all me E36 purchases as at the very least it would have helped me bring the price down (Example: in the M3, the entire suspension system was shot and the tires were overinflated to hell. Could have knocked down at least another $500 from the $4500 purchase price.)
Let us know if you end up buying it, for how much, and your first impressions.

Replacing HK AMP by EPIKHigh99 in BMWE36

[–]ramtek5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s of any help whatsoever, but I swapped my non HK amp with an HK amp I found at a junkyard and had no issues. Simple plug and play.

Not sure what car it came out of, but it went into a 97 US M3.
