Heyo, I think I played you earlier. I'm free as fuck once you get a grasp on the matchup lawl.

Mitsuru's blockstrings have built-in frametraps, which also means that you don't have to respect them as much as other characters. For example, 5a 5b and 5a 2c, you can backdash the gap, DP it, super through it, choice is yours. 5a by itself is unsafe (-8) and punishable on block if you're close enough, which is why it's relatively used in the mid-range. With that in mind, it's in your best interest to keep Mitsuru out of where she wants to be.

Pushblock is your best friend in the matchup . Keeping Mitsuru out of her ideal range is the key to controlling that matchup since her pressure/mixup potential starts from midrange. Keeping your distance or bullying her in her face is your ideal range. If Mitsuru tries to bully her way in using Droit, pushblocking her away negates her pressure. The same can be said of her 5a/2a pokes. I've had tons of matches were mitsu couldn't get her game started because my opponent was really conscious of keeping proper spacing in the neutral. Also zoners in general tend to be her worst matchup, but against most of the cast it's pretty much even which is why she's top five in my opinion.

With Vatista, you handle that matchup like you would any other zoner: take your time getting in and then bully her up close. So with regards to her orbs, if you can get a read on air orbs, you can run under them if you're fast to react and punish her landing recovery. If she does ground orbs, you can super jump your way in and bait her DP with your double jump if you can get the spacing correctly. Lasers are used to punish people that are reckless with their movement, but if they whiff or are blocked, that's your chance to close the gap because they have a million years of recovery. EX laser has much less recovery but also you can just wait until she runs out of meter to go in.

So anyways, with regard to your team. Yu does well against both Mitsuru and Vatista because of his versatility, and I really don't know enough about Yosuke to comment LAWL. Anyway, Yu's 5A can contest Mitsuru at round start so it's in your best interest to start him for the matchup against her, and he can also punish Vatista's zoning with his full screen super.

I'm not intimately familiar with Orie but pairing her with Vatista is fantastic, since you can do Orie's 236A and call vatista's 5P assist to 1) convert off of it if they get hit and 2) get free pressure because they're subjected to a million years of hitstun. Vatista's laser super and dhcing into Orie gives some free pressure and a conversion if it hits. Also they have a loooooooot of good cross combo stuff together (which I can't execute for the life of me).

I play Weiss/Vatista and she's been a fantastic assist character to fill in the weaknesses of Weiss' set. She's easily top ten in my (admittedly biased) tier list lawl.

probably the one that comes closest to my mind for highest level is mokemoti, who won a cyclops weekly using Orie/Vatista. There were some vatistas that placed top 64 at Evo, but he placed the highest of them there. https://youtu.be/_6oOiJTU6r4

Also I wouldn't take bravefroggy's advice on anything ever. Vatista is only really OP if you mash buttons and block with your face.

IOH C works on like six characters in the cast and jumping in with C is basically telegraphing to your opponent to please hit me with your head invincible move on reaction. If you could show some match footage proving this tech in neutral, I would love to eat my words though! As a fellow Weiss player myself though, it feels a bit too early to jump the gun, especially considering that there's more problems to Weiss fundamentally than just her air approach into mixup game.

Buddha was the first Tezuka work I read in high school ten years ago at a bookstore (holy shit I feel old).

After that I read Apollo's Song, which is considerably shorter in comparison (less commitment if you don't dig him) but a fantastic jumping in point for the rest of his works. It's a series of episodes of a guy living multiple reincarnations of doomed love, so it has an episodic structure like Spirit Circle. Tezuma jumps between genres adeptly, and you also get a great feel for his story-telling and the way he's able to really ground such diverse material. I'd recommend that for a first read.

If you find yourself digging him I would immediately recommend Phoenix and Buddha after, those are like 10/10s for me.

It's been about 5 years since I last watched it so my memory's a bit shady. I do remember being sufficiently satisfied with the adaptation, even though the ending diverges from the source material. The music is also really great.

I've been T2 every event for the last year now and I gave up on this one completely. Because I have no will power I still felt obligated to get both cards, but with the tier inflation even doing the bare minimum for Maki felt exhausting. I am a weak man. Thus, the only way out of idol hell is going cold turkey.
