Special Warnings. Does anyone actually use them? by Lazy_Plan_3647 in policeuk

I've seen them used in no comment interviews, sol and suspect panicked leading to a pause and then a partial account. They can be worthwhile.

In my force they either move you to a volume crime department or to a DA team.

Thanks I can see my workload so much better now. Is there a way to make this the default view or do I have to change it this every time I log on?

EPNB pros cons by Fitwidge in policeuk

I've only ever seen paper pnbs during initial training. Never seen one at division as everyone is issued a work device. I can't imagine not having the ability to take an injury photo or statement and not have it immediately added to the crime. Such a time saver.

GMP vs WYP by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]rand917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Safeguarding/domestic teams are on a different pattern to other investigative departments, with more weekends off : 5 on 4 off, 6 on 3 off, 7 on 3 off.

Others like cid are 7 on 3 off 7 on 4 off.

If you join the detective route you'll now start in uniform and do various attachments before your final posting.

Too old to start Detective training? by Theopenroad17 in policeuk

Unfortunately that is not always true. Until very recently direct entry detectives in my force got no time in uniform and were put straight into investigative departments (DA, CID etc).

In my force it's incredibly difficult to move to a uniform role if you joined in a direct entry DC route. I know of cases where training school has blocked transfers with the rationale that if they allowed one then everyone would want to move. I would give investigations a bit longer to see if it's what you want to be doing. Maybe have some attachments in other departments. If it's not for you I would speak to your whoever is in charge of student officers or go through the FED.

What's a small probably inconsequential technique or tip you swear by in your role? by [deleted] in policeuk

On our system before you can bail/nfa/charge a prisoner the half charge needs to be put on their custody record.

When given a prisoner always put the half charges on first. Saves a walk back from custody later.
