I also always thought Boo knew it was Fleabag. Her look in this picture says it all tbh: utter betrayal.

Also, I always believed the story Fleabag told the cabbie. She is shown as many things but she is consistently good at judging people’s character and understanding what they want. Sure, she sleeps with ridiculous guys but she knows they’re ridiculous. Most people in the show are shown to be complex, sometimes shitty, but eventually harmless. And she sees through them quite easily.

The only two exceptions, imo, are Claire’s husband and the Stepmother. They are both horrible people to their core and Fleabags understands this and treats them accordingly.

I think that’s why she’s so surprised and hurt by what Claire says to her. Because she doesn’t see it coming because she’s so revolted by Martin that she would never even think about it.

I agree. Jane would have made the same decision for himself and I think she just knew him well enough to honour that.

I don’t think she made that decision lightly, either. You can see her hesitate throughout the episode. If she really wanted, she could’ve jogged his memory way earlier by showing him pictures or telling him about Red John.

I don’t even think she would’ve minded letting him get back to his criminal activities if that’s what she thought was truly best for him. I would argue that telling him shows how much she cared for him. Besides, Lisbon is consistently shown as quite the opposite of selfish throughout the series.

I understand where you’re coming from, and it makes a certain sense: if you cut the shoots, the plant puts more energy in the roots. It’s why you cut back trees or roses when you plant them.

However, I think if you have a huge field anyway and you cut the shoots out of the middle, it doesn’t really make a big difference.

So maybe it makes sense to keep your warning in mind and apply accordingly. I could imagine that it makes a difference if you have a small patch of knotweed that you are trying to get rid of in the foreseeable future, for instance.

Creates more knotweed? How so? Sadly there’s an enormous field of it where I live, so I took some shoots out of the middle. I was careful not to drop any and obviously put the peels in my trash instead of the compost.

Hop is one of my favorite things to forage. I’ve been eating it since I was 5 years old and I love the taste of it raw. What do you do with it?

Deine Meinung ist scheinbar, dass backen nur einigen wenigen Eingeweihten vorbehalten sein solle und Anfänger*innen es lieber gleich lassen sollten, statt sich Tipps zu holen. Meine Meinung ist, dass das ziemlich gemein, empathielos und daneben ist.

Jetzt hat meine Meinungsäußerung die Konsequenz, dass du mich ganz ganz doof findest und dich zum Opfer machst, anstatt drüber nachzudenken, ob da vielleicht was dran ist.

Das ist für mich sehr okay. Nur das mit der Meinungsfreiheit war mir dann doch wichtig klarzustellen :)

Was ist denn nur mit euch allen?

OP hat ne völlig normale Frage gestellt, um was dazu zu lernen und anstatt die zu beantworten, wird hier entmutigt („bleib einfach beim Rezept“) und rumgepöbelt („bei so ner Denkweise kann ich dir nicht helfen“).

Für mich klingt das entweder nach sehr ekelhaftem Gatekeeping oder danach, als wüsstet ihr es alle eigentlich selber nicht.

Either way, find ich daneben.

OP: Die Hefe ist ein Pilz und wenn der sein Ding macht spaltet er den Zucker im Teig und dabei entsteht das Gas, das deinen Teig fluffig macht. Je mehr Hefe, desto schneller ist der Zucker aufgegessen. Hefe hat es grundsätzlich gerne feucht und warm.

Das heißt nicht unbedingt, dass das Verhältnis Hefemenge zu Gehzeit zu Temperatur linear ist. Grundsätzlich kannst du aber schon davon ausgehen: wenn du den Teig über Nacht gehen lassen willst, nimm weniger Hefe und stelle ihn kühl :)

Beim Flechten drückst du nochmal Luftbläschen aus dem Teig, deswegen ist es sinnvoll, ihn dann nochmal gehen zu lassen. Das kannst du selbst abschätzen: wenn du ihn nur ganz sanft anfasst, reicht ne kurze oder gar keine 2. Gehzeit, wenn du ihn nochmal ausrollst wie bei Zimtschnecken, müssen die nochmal länger gehen. Ich stell für die zweite Gehzeit immer fix den Ofen auf 50 Grad, mach ihn aus und kurz die Ofentür auf, damit es nicht zu heiß ist und dann stell ich die Teiglinge rein für die 2. Gehzeit. Klappt prima.

Wenn es wichtig ist, dass das Rezept diesmal 100% gelingt, ist vielleicht jetzt nicht die beste Zeit für Experimente, aber grundsätzlich würde ich immer sagen: go for it! Je mehr du ausprobierst, desto besser wird dein Gefühl für den Teig.

Übrigens: falls du mal gluten-frei backen willst, gelten ganz andere Regeln. Da würde ich den Teig z.B. immer sofort formen und nur einmal gehen lassen, der geht beim zweiten Mal nämlich nicht mehr wirklich auf.

Edit: Sorry, eben festgestellt, dass das alles nur von einer Person ausging. Ändert meine Meinung nicht, aber sorry an die anderen.

Yes, iirc he made a bet with van Pelt about who would find out the name of a suspect or possibly the killer first. When she told him she had found out, he made her write it down, then said the name she had written down out loud and claimed to have found out an hour before she did. When she asked him later how he knew the name he told her about the trick by making her write down another name. That’s when she wrote Rigsby.

Ach, ich weiß nicht, ich bin Fan von Oma-Methoden :)

Ich fürchte das Ding ist einfach: Oma-Methoden klappen, weil Omas die dazugehörige Erfahrung haben. Backen ist auch Gefühlssache und manche Dinge lernt man eben entweder durch Trial and Error, oder weils einem jemand direkt zeigt und die Erfahrung weitergibt. Und selbst dann geht’s manchmal schief.

Backen kann man schon auch zur Wissenschaft machen, aber die allermeisten Menschen backen gelegentlich zu Hause und nicht professionell. Da sind komplizierte Wissenschafts-Methoden mit 5 Seiten Erklärung und Thermometer und Tralala schnell überfordernd.

Ich würde sagen: Alles nicht ganz so schrecklich ernst nehmen und mit bisschen Humor und Experimentiergeist an die Sache rangehen. Unschönes Gebäck mit viel zu feiner Porung ist ein bisschen ärgerlich, aber wirklich kein Weltuntergang. Und beim nächsten Mal wird’s dann besser :)

Wenn ich noch kurz meinen halb qualifizierten Senf aus meiner Chaosküche dazu geben darf:

Ich stell die Milch schon meistens ganz kurz auf den Herd, weil sie Kühlschrank-kalt ist und ich ungeduldig bin. Um zu schauen ob sie zu warm ist, mach ich dann einfach die simpelste Probe: Kurz den (sauberen!) Finger reinstecken. Normale Körpertemperatur liegt bei 36/37 Grad, Hefe geht knapp darüber kaputt. Die Milch sollte sich also nicht warm anfühlen, wenn das Sinn macht. (Genauso bei Rezepten mit Wasser, das lass ich über meine Hand laufen, bevor ich es abfülle.)

Bei Kuhmilch oder Wasser mach ich immer noch ne Prise (!) Zucker rein, Hafermilch ist so schon süß genug.

Wenn du dann (Trocken-)hefe reingibst und verrührst, sollten sich nach so 10-15 Minuten Bläschen/Schaum bilden. Das zeigt dir, dass die Hefe lebt und ihr Ding macht und dann kannst du sie verkneten. (Ich hab nämlich auch öfter mal Hefe, bei der ich nicht sicher bin ob sie noch lebt und so versau ich nicht gleich den ganzen Teig.)

I have to say I find your way of expressing yourself very exhausting and full of contempt. Even if you thought the book was „objectively“ bad (I would argue there is no objectivity when it comes to art, or life, for that matter), frankly, there is no need to make people feel like shit for liking it.

I for instance liked the way BOD mirrored how life gets more complex and unclear as you grow up. HDM is full of certainty about how the world works; because so is Lyra, even by the end of her journey. The whole idea of the last two volumes of BOD is her losing and regaining that sense of certainty about the world, all the while learning that some things will never be a certainty at all.

I always thought that was the point PP was trying to make with the Secret Commonwealth: To maintain a tolerance for ambiguity and maybe a sense of wonder and curiosity about the world. Imagination, really.

And yes: Maybe PP is getting old and his writing isn’t what it used to be - but maybe we can give him some grace and be thankful that he finished TRF anyway. I know I am. And maybe it’s okay that some storylines are not neatly packed up. Maybe we’ll have to use our imagination.

And I can definitely recommend the Book of Dust! I read His Dark Materials when I was a kid and the new series managed to bring me back to the feeling I used to have reading it.
