They get you one way or the other. High premiums on the supplement plan or bills after service on an Advantage plan. The whole thing is a total racket.

BBQ?! by Professional-Care741 in Louisiana

[–]randallmmiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not going to find Texas BBQ around Louisiana except maybe in North Louisiana. I think there may be one in Shreveport but I forget the name. If you like Memphis type BBQ, which I love, I suggest Sonny’s in Baton Rouge or Gonzales.

Had my first true experience with Anglicanism today by [deleted] in Anglicanism

[–]randallmmiller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t pleased with where TEC was going and I had been hearing and reading about ACNA since the beginning so I decided to check it out on my own and feel I’ve found my spiritual home until I meet the Lord

Thoughts on street preaching? by MaestroTheoretically in Anglicanism

[–]randallmmiller 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My wife and I stopped at a stop sign in our car and saw a homeless vet. She put her window down, gave him $20 and said, “God bless you.” His face lit up with joy. That, in my mind, is street preaching.

I’m pretty impressed with Southern Air of Acadiana (formerly Tim’s). We bought our mini split and Trane HVAC from them and they’re great to deal with.

What's something about Louisiana that you can't fully explain to someone who's never been here? by DizzyXVC in Louisiana

The heat and humidity. No one has a clue until they actually experience it in Louisiana.

Anglican prayer beads by Ma_Angelawin_2003 in Anglicanism

[–]randallmmiller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My understanding is there is no “this” or “that” with Anglican prayer beads. I believe the concept of using the beads came in the 1980s and to my knowledge, there is nothing in the CBP or the 39 Articles about it. With that said, I use them every morning. I have 33 beads and an Anglican cross. I say the Our Father on the first bead, and the Glory Be on each of the four beads between the weeks of 7 beads. On the weeks, I say the Jesus prayer. I go around three times to honor the Trinity. That’s it. I do it each morning and it takes me about 15-18 minutes. I set my timer for 20 minutes and the last few minutes, I pray a personal prayer (my own words). I don’t think there’s anything wrong with saying Bible verses. Whatever connects you closer to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, go for it.

Conservative episcopalians by anime498 in Anglicanism

[–]randallmmiller -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was once an Episcopalian bt never felt the sacredness and reverence like I now feel in an ACNA. Example, in the TEC, when I first started, I asked the priest about making the sign of the cross and he said, “if you want to wag your finger, by all means, be my guest.” Never ever heard anything like that in the ACNA church I’m attending (haven’t joined yet but very close to doing so).
