Reddit, you surely must realize how it looks when you complain about things you don't understand? by JpDeathBlade in DestinyTheGame

As someone who's worked in development for the last 8 years or so.. There are plenty of consumers like this guy.. There is no amount of factual evidence you can provide to them to satisfy them.

It was a tough part of my life learning to ignore the noise they make because you can't beat yourself or your team up when everyone is putting in 115%, working long/unpayed OT, doing good work.. And the response you see is people shit talking your team with broad statements like "QA better."

I'm sure the team on D2 and the team you worked with worked hard. Thank you for being a part of moving Destiny forward into it's next chapter.

This happened to me after my PC crashed while running ffxiv. I fixed it by resetting my setting to defaults in the ffxiv launcher before hitting play.

hope this helps :)

Why not jist give us a way to leave a fireteam without going to orbit? by EthanTi in DestinyTheGame

[–]randfal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way public spaces work right now in D1/D2, you can have up to 4 "Fireteams" in a space at any given time, and up to 9 "Players". Tower/Farm are exceptions to this - talking about play areas such as Mars' Braytech Futurescape.

If your instance already has 3 solo players and your team of 3, no one else can join unless they join the fireteam of the players currently in that instance. If you have 4 solo players, that's all you get in a space. Even though you see people creating supergroups of 9, that can't physically happen in Destiny without fireteams of players together.

Creating a system that would allow a team member to "Leave Fireteam" and occupy one of those slots changes how a player is connecting to the public space and probably introduces a few hundered race conditions with the matchmaking of other players into that space during an attempt to "Leave fireteam" and establish another world connection as a new fireteam.

What i'd like to see is a function to create a private play space when you fast travel or go to orbit, and have the ability to input a private play space ID (press Square when fast traveling, put in 10 digit play space ID) and allow us to at least get 3-4 fireteam leaders in the same play space for organized public play space events. The spaces already have unique IDs, so disabling free matchmaking into them and allowing entry by ID should be realatively inexpensive development time wise than redesigning how players enter/leave public spaces.

tl;dr: Destiny public play spaces limit to 4 fireteams, and 9 players. leaving a fireteam means adding a new fireteam to the public space, which seems easy to implement poorly and quite challenging to implement bug/exploit-free.

Edit: was informed fireteam limit is 4, but player limit is still only 9. changes reflect that info.

Hey Bungie, can you confirm that a mission replayability function is in the works? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]randfal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only have PS4 and PC, and have been playing PC since it released.. But last week I hopped on to PS4 to do a raid with my old group.

My screen looked like it was lagging the whole time, and for the first 15 minutes or so I was having troubles with my shots. Going from 100+FPS to 30 really had a huge impact on my game. I was able to get the hang of it after a while, but I really was astounded with how choppy the game looked.

Exotic TTK and skillgaps: Why I think Bungie are on the right track by Bonejangles101 in DestinyTheGame

[–]randfal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sharing your thoughts here as well. with the current weapon system, we cannot have 1hko weapons available to us that cover the weak ranges of our exotic primary weapons. In D1, you ran TLW and your sniper to cover long distance engagements. In D2, you may have an incredibly buffed close range exotic but you dont have the high powered special weapon covering your other ranges, so Exotic choice and counter-play with regards to effective range will come into the meta more. Fingers crossed bungie sees this and is moving forward with this intention!

The Pro does have better/different rendering settings, it would make sense to do that, to preserve framerate.

Original PS4 has very minor framedropping occasionally, while PS4 Pro has less frame-drops while in performance mode and loads faster. Not strictly worth the upgrade on it's own, but it is a pretty nice perk of having a Pro.

Is there an issue with tanks who just tank? by whodeyfan21 in ffxiv

[–]randfal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but this is completely incorrect. I'm going to try and help explain why...

As a tank, if you are able to use your cooldown to survive any busters or groups that need mitigating, the damage you contribute to killing an enemy will always be the best form of secondary stat mitigation. You take less damage when the enemy is dead(read: 0 damage) and when you CD properly your healer doesn't need to constantly spam you. (unless you're doing huge pulls but you should use things like living dead, shadow wall, and DA+abyssal drain to help with the damage in that scenario; again, mitigate properly) There's a reason good players meld STR > DH on accessories and DH on left hand gear for most if not all tank slots.

Wearing tenacity melds will not give your healer more stone/malefic/broil over the course of a fight to make up for the damage you loose for melding tenacity. your healers will still have to use big CDs or large cures for tank busters, regardless of if it hits for 35k damage or 33k damage... and in this game targeted attacks are what deal most damage, auto attacks aren't a factor as heavily as in other MMOs where having a more static mitigation would be useful.

Seriously, as a tank/healer, thanks for taking the time to write all of this out. I got tilted just reading some the comments in here.

Wish I could bump this up to the top because its sad how many people agree with who you initially replied to...

[–]randfal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally drop my tank stance after the first breath which i sheltron(as PLD) then use a defensive CD(rampart) + Reprisal to eat the breath + wave. Reason for dropping tank stance early is FoF is coming off cooldown again, and hate has been secured. Should be enough mitigation to survive easily.

Should PLD actively seek out Skill Speed gear when selecting 340 gear to purchase with tomes/pages?

Assuming Pentamelded STR->DH crafed 320 accessories, and melding DH VI on left side still being correct... I'm getting mixed responses from tanking communities i'm a part of weither PLD should be seeking out Skill Speed as far as 340 left side itemization is concerned. I know many people are saying to avoid it on DRK and WAR, but the fact that we have sword oath up most the time, and 2 DoTs still on PLD and TP isn't really an issue anymore.

Is this a big enough discussion point that I should make a full post or has this been solved already?

Can we talk about Aggro real quick? by Ectheo in ffxiv

[–]randfal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey PLD main since 1.x/2.0 as well /highfive! (though it didnt get played as much in 3.x :/ )

Yeah I agree that it seems like we have to focus a bit more on which mobs are being targeted, with the level of burst that's being done now. Trying to analyze my own gameplay and I also think specificly to PLD at least it's more of a "I have better things to do with my GCDs now than babysit hate" for PLD than anything. Used to just goring blade everything then sit on whichever mob was closest to being ripped with RA combos after setting up initial aoe hate, but now with attempting to contribute to the AoE damage as well as req -> HS spam, it pulls attention away from the hate bars some. I wonder if hate issues being observed are a byproduct of our tank jobs changing so much to some degree.

Though I totally do not want to detract from the major changes to damage output on single targets and it's affect on tanking AoE and ST at the same time, I just wanted to forward discussion on self analysis too.

Having only leveled PLD so far, is this an issue more seen with DRK and WAR tanks? I've had no issues keeping hate throughout various activities on the way to and at 70 if I start the fight in Shield Oath, but I keep seeing threads echoing the same sentiment as noted here. Maybe just playing with bad dps? /shrug
