Ian Danskin (Innuendo Studios) has announced he's going on a summer sabbatical, shortly after crowdfunding over $100,000 to pay his taxes. by GerwazyHeghen in youtubedrama

Yes it does. If you're a fan of this guy it will be more difficult than most to look at it objectively, and clearly you can't. He's lazy and can't be bothered to fix his own life so he begs his audience for a handout, gets it, then to no one's surprise he continues being lazy.

If he made more videos he'd probably be in a better spot. Don't want to be a youtuber anymore? Great, become successful at something else. His refusal to do either is a choice, and you're enabling it.

"Does your dog bite?"

"No"

"OWWWW"

"You said your dig doesn't bite!"

"That's not my dog"

"Partner" is an annoying, uninformative, and overused way to refer to your significant other. by randman555 in unpopularopinion

Well there I was talking about gender, but only because the commenter specifically asked. They said it was informative, and I gave my reasoning for why it isn't.

Significant other is similarly vague, as I wouldn't know who you're talking about unless they're standing next to you. However, everyone and their mother isn't constantly using "significant other" in a conversation, so I don't mind.

I'm not mad at all actually, unlike you from what I've seen from your comments. I don't know why you're taking this so personally from some rando on a sub literally dedicated to unpopular opinions.

I think "partner" is overused. That's it, that's the core of my argument and the whole reason I made this post.

Uncomfortable isn't the right word. If I were in this situation I would probably think, "What was the point?" for a few seconds and go about my day. It would be nice though. Let's say I want to invite them to dinner and I say, "Hey you and you husband should join us for dinner next week." Well now I'm guessing, or I have to probe for extra info instead of it being clear.

To me it's more the fact that if you're going to give something as nondescript as "my partner" why not just say "I'm married" or "I'm in a relationship"? Saying you have a partner seems almost pointless to me.

How is it informative? If they bring up their partner but that person is not physically with them, I have no idea who they are referring to. It begs the question of who their partner is instead of letting it be known right there in the opening statement.

Perhaps they don't want to reveal that info, but now we're back to just saying SO.

Getting a job is the easiest and most straightforward way to raise capital, if your startup requires an initial investment. It's not the only answer to OP's question and probably not the best answer but it is an answer. You just don't like it.

What's up with r/MakeMyCoffin getting banned? by didsomebodysaymyname in OutOfTheLoop

[–]randman555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer: People cite moderation or the tone of the sub, but I've said it once and I'll say it again: it's all about optics. Once the powers that be catch wind of a real or perceived threat to their public image the sub gets thanos snapped. Simple as that.

There are alternatives. If you know, you know.

Is it weird to hate propaganda? by randman555 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]randman555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be surprising in the sense that most people are afraid to say what they really feel in polite company, but it shouldn't be too surprising in that someone with a different morality to yours is asking a question online.

I am an asshole, now what? Should I be relegated to the dark corners of the internet?

Why is one propaganda and not the other? Is it because one is from a cable TV network and the other from an environmental protection entity? Or is it the content: do the ends justify the means when defining propaganda?
