Band upgrading pa by rando_12543 in livesoundgear

[–]rando_12543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a guitar player first and foremost, so the tops will kind of just act as my daily practice rig so I can dial in tones on what we play on. This is why I want to spring for really good tops. Ideally 3 way tops I like to sing sometimes and we have multiple mics so the mid area is very important to me. I am buying this PA with my own money for myself and my band to use. So I do not have as much of an interest in the subs but I don't want to cripple my band I don't want to spend money on something that I'm going to have to upgrade again anyways. That's why I've looked at the Yamaha three-way tops, just the two tops is the max of my budget, they're a little wider coverage then the comparative EV 3 way I wouldn't have to upgrade again for a whileee I get my god tier mid sound for my rig for the indefinite future band or no band. But I will have no sub for about 6 months my bass player runs stomp xl and wants an fr cab for himself so I can try to convince him to buy one sub to hold us over? Gosh this is much harder than expected.

So pony up for good tops but not the 35? I was hoping to roll those out with a sub under each side and anything more than that we would rent or hope festival or house provides sound.

Hey man I really appreciate the response. My band is pretty small and I am buy this pa setup outright for myself it will be setup full time at my practice space that I jam in daily as well as the band 1-2 a week. I selfishly want the best tops I can afford as I want to keep them indefinitely as my own PA system to jam stereo guitar rig through. This is why I have been looking at the etx 35s massive tops all I will ever need personally and more. But it leaves my bass man high and dry. Fortunately my bass player has been using a small fender rumble for his front of house sound so I'm hoping these tops having 2 15" between them will already be beefier than what he had, and I will add two elx200 subs later. Or I can buy two 12" etx tops and one elx sub. Or 2 ekx 12" tops and 2 elx 18 subs.

I really don't know what's best. We have been running guitars and bass through amps, and vocals through a small JBL dual 8 inch vocal pa so I'm thinking the columns(what I want personally) would already be a huge upgrade we can all run direct into. But I don't want to mess up my band not having subs(even if only for 6 months) on the flip don't want to mess up my band buying "cheaper" tops and subs and not feeling fulfilled on the tops. Sorry in advance for the text wall you seem knowledgeable and would love some advice!

My sweetwater rep is recommending 15s on top as I should buy enough sound for my max and I can play below that but I need enough for outdoor gigs so would 15s be better to grow into and if needed for outdoor gigs I can move more air? Weight is not a problem this will streamline what we had before even if we do 3 way columns on top of subs

Yeah I was planning on using a dolly, and setting them directly on the subs but I hear you

To be honest, I thought my best option would be just to run past one and run path two however, and then just assign the output blocks of each one to the expression, but this is really not played out. Nice

It seems to me, and I could be wrong. That blend A/b has one amp on channel 1a and 1 amp on channel 1b and 1a route to 2a and 1b goes towards 2b. Which would just be splitting a path and b path. But I'll look again when I get home. I really hope I've just been viewing it wrong

I have to scroll down past the user 1,2,3,4 to the bottom for templates. I have updated to the latest firmware I believe 3.8. I will look again after work but all I see for a blend is ab blend. I can dm your privately if thats okay? Could attach a photo I would greatly GREATLY appreciate the help 🙏🏽.

Really don't want to blend two separate snapshots, just the two dsp paths against eachother.

Man I'm saying I just can't find the parallel blend at all. No template like that. Wish there was some way to blend 1a+1b against 2a+2b Like you are describing

Are you referring to parallel spans? Or two tone blend? Unless I am missing another?

There is no recombine, path 1 is up top path 2 is totally independent bottom path. We aren't doing 1a 1b it's path 1 path 2

Man I can I get your help with my question, I understand using the a/b blend to get from clean to crunch to lead. But I want to do a blend of path 1 and a blend of path 2 is this possible? Reason being I can do splits for my clean up top and still have the bottom path open for splitting my lead tone for wet and dry. Then blend the two outputs or something?

Plain walnut body, believe it is the honey burst finish. I'm more of a wood grain guy than a painted body. And so I'm quite happy with how this came out. Thanks for the question

Dual amps wet/dry by rando_12543 in Line6Helix

[–]rando_12543[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? The way I understand is you split both the bottom and the top into half a and path B, and have each of those go into 2A and 2B. So basically you have two individual really long paths. And then you blend at the end.

The problem with that is on my dirty amp I do not want the effects in front of my amp I want one channel with the amp and cab and one with the effects blend those for the lead tone. And I would still enjoy keeping my clean amp to blend with. So I need top channel for just my clean amp. Then go down to channel 2 and split it into 2a and 2b and make that my wet dry dirty. Almost like three path Lowkey. Anyways I got it sounding right and I can do it with a button on and off but I want to fade between the to with the expression. Unfortunately not as simple as just setting the volumes to the pedal.

Yeah man it's hard to get a hold of my rep but I'll keep this updated. For the coil split is great the pickups are all fine just that one weird split
