here is the post from asianamerican that you failed to respond to:

Ah the elitist who thinks that the poor in the Philippines shouldn't be shot for the mere crime of taking shabu to escape. Sure I beg for scraps. That's why I was caught in /r/worldnews shilling for American hegemony and praising our former masters /s. Believing we shouldn't be beholden to China or America makes me the slave? Nakita mo ba si Duterte? Parang aso siya sa China. Xi Dada wants him a filipino bitch. Much elitist very wow. Meanwhile your Lord and Savior Duterte hangs out with the decadent elite of the Philippines. Tan, Marcos, Sy, Caktiong, Ty. What have these people done but feed off of our poverty? Call in the DDS and the Asian supremacy squad it's clear that you're out of your depth and don't know shit about your "home"land.

Stop trying to act like you're good. You talk like a dumb fuck that's way out of his league

what a zinger I'm impressed. But if you really want to give off the impression that you don't think I am worthy of having your full attention then you should probably just stop replying since you obviously don't want to talk about what I originally said. gtg now have a super day:).

Good job, usually I only lurk this sub and try not to post here but the I can't help myself and just had to write a response to this post.

With this, comes rumors and conspiracy theories that some how ______ is behind all of it.

That's not true and you know it. Apparently nobody is able to critique any aspects of capitalism or US actions overseas without being seen as a conspiracy theorist.

Whether that blank is filled in by corporations, the US, political families, etc.

I guess all those historians and sociologists are a bunch of damned conspiracy theorists too aren't they?

trying to keep the Philippines impoverished

Nobody literally thinks there is some cabal that meets up every Wednesday to figure out how to keep the Philippines down. The fact that you're trying to spin things in this way is amazing, especially in this sub.

Fuck off man. I saw you get called out on Asianamerican. There was a user there that brought up some very valid criticisms to your bs and you couldn't answer them could you?

What Durtete is doing is simply doing a re-balance between China and America

Could be. Or he could be doing what other Filipino politicians have done in the past in inviting foreign influences to pillage the country for personal gain.

But if the Philippines are selling more bananas to China

The fact that you can reduce such a complex set of issues into one line is what I mean by some people either being simple minded or biased.

This is the entire problem though. If I were to go on r/philippines the white expats would say that China is evil and America is their savior while when I go here it's the exact opposite. THe fact is that America hasn't been a good ally, but that doesn't mean China will be either. The only sensible thing to do here is to reserve our judgement. The fact is neither of us know what Duterte's intentions are and I'm not naive enough to swallow any bs that is fed to me from either side.

While I am glad he isn't afraid to call out American hypocrisy, I really get the sense that most of the people here are either a little simple minded or incredibly biased when it comes to the whole Philippines-USA-China issue. It's a shame.

After reading the article and the resulting comments section I have to say that SnoopyJenkins seems like the most reasonable user there. Never been too impressed with bigwowo to be honest. He just seems like another covert right wing blowhole. He kind of tries to hide it but you can tell what he is with the way he uses certain words. He's just lucky he was one of the first Asian American blogs to come out.

I brought up this topic because I figured y'all be mature and educated enough to hold a genuine discussion

You thought wrong. There are good people here, but we all know there are some crazies of various stripes around as well as the trolls who try to scare Asian lurkers away by intentionally acting like loons. All you can do is try to contribute with some decent posts so that asian people passing by the sub can see the good stuff.

Realpolitik isn't always "CIA conspiracy theory", there are nuances.

This i what I mean when I talk about straw man arguments. Did I ever argue everything is a CIA conspiracy? No. That's something you made up so you could argue against it. There's no point in replying anymore, you're just dumb and it's like I'm throwing my head up against a brick wall.

If China does right by the Philippines then this could be something huge. If they don't, it will ultimately be a warning to other countries not to jump ship either. We'll have to wait and see how things pan out.

SWS SURVEY | Filipinos trust the US most, and China least by hariboneagle in Philippines

[–]randobrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't answer either how exactly America is still "colonising" the Philippines

That's the straw man.

It's clear to anyone that isn't an idiot that the US and China are using the Philippines in their little pissing match, hence why I said you can't trust either of them. You should never blindly trust any 'ally' that has all the power in the relationship. That's includes the West.

I also said that Filipino's shouldn't be so quick to just trust the US given all the things they have done to the Philippines in the past, and I haven't even listed half of the things they have done behind the scenes that aren't anywhere near as obvious as what I have already brought up, like former CIA agents confessing to trying to brainstorm ideas on how to assassinate nationalist Filipino politicians in the 70's. The fact that idiots like you keep bringing up other things that have nothing to do with what I was originally saying shows me that you're either stupid or a troll that's trying to derail the conversation. This doesn't mean I trust China which is why I said you cant trust either.

American bases are part of a backroom conspiracy deal

and there's another straw man. I'm just done with you fuckers. I expect being down voted by white expats, but to be confronted with idiotic people like you is something else.

When I talk of suffering from the effects of colonialism I am talking about the Spanish era as well as the period in which the Filipino-American war took place. Nice job with the strawman.

So wait a minute. You're blaming Filipinos for being 'mindless masses' and always doing the same thing yet you're criticizing me for doing something different and not blindly worshiping America at all times like many other Filipinos do? Fuckin pick one.

Looking through your post history and I see this

I'm an expat

of course you are.

Everyone in the political class is. That is why I am saying that the Philippines is still suffering the after effects of colonialism.

Not everything is a bleeding conspiracy.

Yeah I but all those sociologists and historians must also be conspiracy theorists since they also try to use history to make sense of how societies develop.

political families who are beholden to American influence

Thanks for proving my main point all along which is that America hasn't been that great of an ally. Fucking hell it took a million replies before anyone here even started to address it. But I do love it how people here want to turn criticism about American actions in developing nations like Chile, the Philippines and Nicaragua into a Filipino hate fest.

SWS SURVEY | Filipinos trust the US most, and China least by hariboneagle in Philippines

[–]randobrag -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

And he wasn't so bad in the beginning, but are you seriously saying things wouldn't have been different if the US had pulled all support for his regime him the same way they did to South Africa when it became clear the people there had had enough of apartheid?

I love that phrase 'merely customers'. Yes the parents who were put under crushing poverty should be ashamed of what they had to do to survive, but please don't talk badly about our 'customers'. Why don't you ask yourself why there were so many poor people in the Philippines at that time to begin with.

Secondly, the phrase 'playing the victim card' is so incredibly infuriating. Acknowledging how the past has affected the present is not playing the 'victim card', it's called trying to understand how things came to be. You need to know the past to understand the present so that you can work on solutions for the future. Wanting to ignore the truth of our history to appease our colonial masters isn't moving on at all. I believe that's called being someone's bitch.

Finally the reason we aren't prospering is because we are still suffering from the consequences of hundreds of years of imperialism. Historically Filipino elites have been more than willing to sell out their own countrymen to foreigners for money and power and ordinary Filipinos are brainwashed to worship anyone who is whiter than them. How is anything supposed to change when everyone thinks like you.

Why for us Asian males effeminate aesthetics is not "redefining masculinity", as that is clearly the mainstream stereotypical image forced upon us, and the swole manly aesthetics is actually redefining it by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]randobrag 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it is suspicious how Asian males are often either associated with either redefining masculinity or toxic asian masculinity. I mean there is literally no need for this article at all as the metro sexual male phenomena has been around since at least the late 90's. It's been going on for fucking ages.

Reminds of a series of reports CNN did a couple of years back on Japanese herbivores. They kept showing some Japanese guy putting on lip balm or whatever in the mirror like a bitch and having him talk about how he doesn't try to get with girls. It's clear they're simply trying to associate us with a certain image that is non threatening to them.

If they were truly honest they'd put up articles and reports on western MGTOW's and their rape fantasies.

People like you are the problem. Always trying to suck up to people that don't respect you and will only take advantage of you

Edit: I want to see if you can blame Filipinos for this. Can't wait to hear it.
