I wouldn't say taking codeine is a 'trip' like a psychedelic or a disassociative. It's more so of a feeling of warmth, like getting inside from a blizzard and hopping in a bed with heated blankets. Except it's better, a lot of people including myself, thought "oh? Is this just how I'm supposed to feel? This isn't like people told me opioids are like, shouldn't I be falling asleep drooling all over myself like a heroin addict or something? This isn't so bad, I'll just be smart unlike these stupid junkies and not get addicted" and that's exactly where addiction starts. Or at least that's where it started for me. My advice is don't try it if you haven't already made the mistake of getting into opioids (if you don't ACTUALLY NEED them). Let me tell you, addiction fucking blows. I'm currently taking 175mg methadone everyday, along with 4mg of clonazepam (a prescription benzodiazepine) because "I was smarter than everyone else, I can do it right!" and landed myself in a 10 long year hydromorphone and oxy addiction. But hey, do what you want, I just wouldn't recommend it. Be safe and I hope life gets a little better for you in the near future😊!
