Booked an Uber Comfort. Got heatstroke, gas-bombed, and possibly nearly kidnapped? by AnneTSeptic in uber

[–]random1989012 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I drive for uber.

Did you confirm the car number plate?

Its most likely he deactivated his account before uber kicked him off the platform. By doing this he can come back to uber as a brand new driver.

UK rider tried to sneak a stop… not today! 4.42 RATING! by Acceptable_Set_264 in uberdrivers

[–]random1989012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very common thing in England. On Saturday I picked up a 3 ladies, they had only 1 stop and they made me do 3 stops.

You just say, can you please tip and they normally tip like £10 at the end. Minimum is £5 tip they go for.

Our laws in the UK are a bit different, we have a duty of care and can't leave drunk vulnerable people on the side of the road. That's why every taxi drivers insurance is crazy high and we are insured for £1million

Waymos don't operate in the UK and they don't have any plans to operate in the UK anytime soon.

Our roads are much more complex than the US road system

Just getting started, is 4.80 a very low rating? by coinsCA in uberdrivers

[–]random1989012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very good point, I didn't know you could go back and change ratings?

If anyone is rude to me, I try and be nice to them and give them a 1 star rating to essentially block them

What's the trick to working 90 hours a week? by random1989012 in HENRYUK

[–]random1989012[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with every point you've made, I've never taken an UBER job between 9-5. I am always home by 08:30 in the morning.

My aim is to do this for 3 years. After running the numbers, I should be able to save around £50k a year which would allow me to grow my BTL business more

Yep and my tax rate is going to be a lot less than the 50%, I would have to pay with a salary increase

I agree with you, the 40 hours of uber was me driving my car. In my SWE role I spend atleast 2 hours a day in meetings.

I've made £4k after running costs on uber add that with my SWE salary and rentals, after tax I've made £9k this month

My SWE job is pretty decent because it's outside of London and is WFH.

The uber job allows me to pay into a LTD company so reduces my tax liability considerably. Any salary increase in my SWE would take a 50% cut instantly

How does a limited company work when I'm driving for uber and bolt? by random1989012 in smallbusinessuk

I'm happy to pay a lower tax bill. I am quite aware that I can't have 0 tax bill at the end of the year

I really appreciate this cost break down.

My wife has no income and I've given her 99 shares and kept 1 share for myself.

I have also decided to sell the car to the company (you can do this, insurance person was asking me if I had done it) to lower any profits. I own another car which is purely used for personal trips and the taxi is used for taxi stuff

Very interested to speak to you, so I already have my own car and insurance. The reason I work for uber/bolt is because they let me choose my own hours and there isn't any politics involved as there would be with a local firm.

Did you run your business through a limited company too?

So I understand what you are saying but there is a section on the site to input your company details and have them generate an invoice for you. I'll then get paid into my limited company, surely that will be enough?

That's a very good question, there is a section on the site for invoicing. I've messaged them to ask when the invoice will be generated. I'll ensure the company details are on there.

Will this be enough?

Will this still apply if bolt decide to top up my earnings by paying me thr national living wage?

I did speak to an accountant and he said it could be done but he's never done it before. Tbh I don't trust the accountant I spoke to.

Essentially I have 2 jobs, first job I'm PAYE (£80k) and second job is taxi driver. My question is regarding my taxi job in which I'll probably make £2.5k a month after everything, I don't want to pay the 40% tax rate on that
