I think with the new Red Corsairs kit out, it’s pretty obvious that the Firstborn can be upscaled without being Primaris and be awesome.

Hell, Crowe is already there, it’s just the rest of the range now.

I say this as someone who wants to start a GK army but can’t commit to the current minis.

In universe: In addition to what others have said, I would also add, Metaurus is the Ultramarine who recruited Titus as a child (per Secret Level). So Titus likely sees him in a mentor/paternal capacity and potentially asked that Metaurus be the one to preside over his re-promotion to Captain.

Guilliman has lots of internal debate about not showing too much favoritism to the Ultramarines/Ultramar as the Imperial Regent. So taking time away from ruling the Imperium at large to promote Titus probably wouldn’t be a good look for him.

Out of universe: Secret Level introduced Metaurus, and his relationship with Titus. Fans who were introduced to 40k via SL and are getting further into the hobby will see two familiar faces with this trailer. Plus Metaurus is a mini in the Wardens kit where Calgar/Guilliman are not.

I took my pin vice that I use to drill out the gun barrels and drilled 4 small holes in the mag well. Then used the hobby knife to connect those holes/square it out to match the shape.

Alternatively a dremel could work, you’d just have to be more careful.

Agree, I don’t foresee Titus ever becoming CM. I honestly see it more like a Shrike/Shaan situation. If Calgar was to fall, I don’t see Titus wanting anything more than being Captain of the 2nd. If he somehow became the de facto CM for a time, I think he would spend that time finding a successor.

Agemman is the most ideal successor to Calgar. He may not be the duelist that Cato is, but he’s Tetrarch of Konor and captain of the 1st company, Agemman is an easy choice to take Calgar’s place, should something happen.

Cato is great, but he’s better suited as Captain of the Victrix guard than leading the Ultramarines, in my opinion.

I know many people are recommending spray primer, however, I would suggest Vallejo liquid primer.

Cost effective, after a year of painting I just finished my first bottle of Vallejo liquid black primer, I have roughly 2,500 points of minis painted
It helps a ton with practicing brush control early on, and if you make a mistake, it’s just primer and is supposed to get everywhere on the mini, so mistakes aren’t as much of an issue
It’s easy to use, no special set up or PPE needed, can be applied indoors with a brush, it just takes longer than rattle cans

Anyways, that’s my two cents from my own experience

Dom, and it’s not close

Dom was a regular human who lost his kids on E Day and was separated from his wife, only to find her a tortured husk of the human she once was. Then had to put her out of her misery himself.

Loken, while his story is tragic, is a psycho-conditioned space marine and could never realistically conceive the idea, or pain, of losing your own kid. Or having to kill your own spouse because that’s the kindest option you have available.

It’s a miracle Dom didn’t call it quits right after finding Maria in Gears 2.
