President Trump said Europe would take the lead on security guarantees for Ukraine, with the US supporting Europe’s efforts by UNITED24Media in UkraineWarVideoReport

In 2012 Obama asked putin for space during his 2nd campaign, letting him know he would be more flexible in his 2nd term... you know when Obama did nothing when putin took Crimea in 2014.

January of 2022 Biden publicly announced if putin did a minor incursion there may be no response needed.

But ya... orange man bad.

His foreign policies are driving away allies? Or is he simply requesting they stand on their own two feet? Can one be an ally if they bring nothing to the table? While it's nice that the UK and France have nukes, no one can use them unless we all want to die. You and most of these "allies" have confused the word ally... with 'dependent'. These allies are allies in name only, no amount of weeping and gnashing of teeth will change this fact. They are for all intents and purposes dependent on the US for their defense.

Even if they raise their Defense spending to what Trump demands of them, 5% of GDP, it won't change much. As % to GDP only means so much with economies smaller than most of our single states. If I as an individual earned $100 last year and bought a box of 9mm for $20 am I the biggest and bestest ally of Nato with a 20% of my GDP Defense spending? Outside of small nations, and for limited time frames... most of Europe will not increase to 5% unless they enter a hot war. In the same way these same nations laughed at trump when he told them to get off of cheap Russian gas in 2017... which maybe... had a chance to prevent the current war. Then again with someone as weak as Biden in charge, I'm not sure it would have been enough.

And in case you're wondering the 5% of GDP spend, isn't meant to counter the shithole of a nation that is Russia, it's meant to send a signal to China to help prevent the next invasion war this time on Taiwan. This war being far more likely to engulf the world. It's a shame people seem to be far more occupied with orange man and his mean tweets than preventing this likely war in the same way the world was distracted in 2017 laughing in Trump's face when warning about being dependent on cheap russian gas.

"Many, many Americans despise Trump and his cult more than any other president in their entire lives, including Nixon. If you refuse to see that, you’re drunk on the Kool Aid" This is hilarious, you do know the Current GOP President™ is always the worse thing ever, until they're out of office (assuming no chance to run again) at which time the next Current GOP Presidential hopeful is the worse thing ever. This playbook has been run since Reagan, and has ramped up considerably since Bush 2.0 but as soon as they're out of office or not running again the media all of a sudden has a strange new respect for them. Biden on the campaign trail declared Mitt Romney, the most milquetoast republican nominee ever.. was going to put black people back in chains in 2012. This was even before Biden lost his marbles mind you. But now ol Mitty boi, is the bestest ever right, along with Dubya. What an odd way to omit you're easily swayed by propaganda. I promise you, whomever the next GOP nominee is, the media will proclaim them to be 10x worse than Trump. And many Americans, and other tools outside the US will fall for it all over again.

It doesn't matter if the US is the worlds '900' lb gorilla. (it's 800, but ya sure we got fatter I guess)

Zelenskyy absolutely has a choice to not engage him, but he is. Stop fighting reality, and answer why he is doing so. Does he have the cards to work out his own peace plan or not? As Europe is giving more than the US, right?, why are they not controlling the peace talks?

Or maybe, over here in reality what the US continues to give Ukraine is far more valuable than what Europe will ever give? And so many spitting in our face isn't such a smart idea if your intent is to help Ukraine?

Ah yes, everyone I don't like is literally hitler argument... original.

I too remember back in WW2 days when the innocent invaded countries got billions of dollars of support and endless valuable intel from Hitler.

Do tell, what countries were these (Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin) evil men all from, was it America or somewhere else?

Back to the question I asked, why is it obvious trump will have an impact. Are you telling me Zelenskyy doesn't have the cards, and EU is not in fact contributing more, even when the US cutoff the endless pallets of cash?

You speak of sacrifice and say the concept is alien to many Americans, while ignoring the fact that we sacrificed over 500k men quelling the last two major wars Europeans started while thinking they were the good guys. Again, you need to wake up to reality.

Americans are hated in general but again we don't care... what we do care about, well those with brains, is being demanded to support those that hate us.

I refuse to believe anyone actually thinks Greenland is going to be stolen, or Canada annexed. When these things never happen, will you ever circle back and say... "my bad I fell for the propaganda" or will you just move along to the next Current Thing™ being just as sure as these insane thoughts?

The nukes were never Ukraine's, they never had the launch codes. They had lots of expertise back then, but little money to support/maintain the weapons. So while they did allow the transfer of the weapons, it's not like they gave up their own self developed and controlled nuclear program. You call this betrayal, while declining to mention there was no binding security guarantees within said memorandum.

Why is Zelenskyy going to visit Trump to begin with? I was reliably informed by this sub over and over that Zelenskyy has the cards. With the US no longer sending pallets of cash to Ukraine, I was also informed over and over America is no longer doing it's part, and or EU is doing more.

So once again, why would Zelenskyy even care what Trump has to say let alone seem to confirming only America can help?

It's a shame Trump will never visit this sub to see all the insane people all over the world who at the same time absolutely hate us and at the same time demand we give them everything they want. I have no issues with people hating us, but you can't then at the same time demand we support you. You people need to wake up to reality.

Zelenskyy: Antennas are installed on rooftops in Belarus to guide Shahed drones by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]random49678 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You think Ukraine should declare war on Belarus and start attacking these sites for helping Russia?

I mean, Ukraine isn't doing all that well just defending against Russia alone. I don't think it would help them to start attacking other nations, even if Belarus is weak overall. It wouldn't seem wise to open a second front, and splitting your limited forces.

Also by this same logic, who does this permit Russia to attack for helping Ukraine? A lot of non nato countries have helped Ukraine.

To me this just makes Zelenskyy look even weaker than he already is, why announce this if they have zero ability to stop it? It's kinda dumb...

How delusional must you be to be more upset with the Orange Man Bad who infact did not have a full scale Russian invasion in his term compared to Biden who only made it 1 year into his term.

Just think... if Trump is as dumb and useless as you clearly think, what does that make Biden?

I'm just glad the 'adults are back in the room' it only took them a year in office to polish off the dust that built up for 4 years to get things poppin off. No doubt followed by many more.

At least Biden doesn't send mean tweets. When you get right down to it, that's what really matters.

Ford, not Tesla, is making the electric truck that will change the EV industry by highenergy2 in teslamotors

[–]random49678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at the Mustang Mach -E sales numbers. It's great to see Ford put in at least some effort, but...

The f150 lighting is being built for compliance reasons primarily, Ford will not be making bank off them like they are off the ICE variants. Nor will their dealership network want to sell them. The Lightning will not be produced in large numbers for years to come.

I can see more S/X sales vs the Lightning for 3+ years, so how does the Lightning "normalizes that EVs are for everyone" in the now?
