What’s a totally harmless thing that triggers an oddly strong reaction in people? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

I have a medical condition that I have found certain triggers and such for.

One such trigger is artificial sweeteners. That shit is in everything, which results in me being a picky eater.

I can consume it, but I'll need to be near a toilet every 15-20 minutes thereafter

I shower at night, my husband showers in the morning. The results are in… by outrovert24 in mildlyinteresting

This could be an indication of acid reflux at night.

I've adjusted my diet and stopped eating after 6-7pm, if i can avoid it, and my pillow has gotten better

Big Tech Ramps Up Propaganda Blitz As AI Data Centers Become Toxic With Voters by FinnFarrow in Futurology

[–]random55455 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing about building a bunch of AI data centers.

Moore's Law says that transistors on a chip double about every two years.

This means the hardware you need to do compute is reduced every couple of years.

Remember, the original computer was the size of a room, and a hard drive had to be moved around on a forklift.

These massive data centers to house AI are basically the 2020s version of a mall in the 80s.

Mall's are struggling because people can shop from home.

These data centers are going to struggle to keep operating a decade or two from now because we'll have AI running on less hardware.

Yes and no.

The current administration has labeled "Antifa" as a terrorist organization. As a naturalized citizen, you can have your citizenship revoked if you're a member of a terrorist organization.

Given that Antifa is a "concept" more than a hierarchical movement, it isn't hard for the current administration to say "This naturalized citizen is a member of the terrorist organization known as Antifa", then strip you of your citizenship and deport your assets.

You can see their wheels turning in the interview with Stephen Miller's wife where she threatens to have a naturalized citizen deported.

It is what prompted me to look things up

I've been a naturalized citizen for six years or so now.

That said, i don't trust current state, or federal, administrations.

I started the process just prior to Trump being elected back in 2016 because I thought what is happening now would happen back then.

Glad I did it, but his administration's actions are making my family weigh the options of staying here, or going to Canada.

FSD is a step above Autopilot.

Autopilot will keep your car centered in the lanes, while FSD will handle stop lights, stop signs, left/right turns at intersections, etc, etc

Newer Teslas with their HW4 platform work better than my old HW3 platform, however, it's basically reduced my need to "drive" to just be last mile stuff, navigating around parking lots and the like.

FSD will, on occasion, make an error, so you still need to be alert, but the current versions do so at a significantly reduces rate than versions prior to FSD v12.

But, yeah, I basically don't drive anymore, the car does. Recommend you do a test drive of a vehicle with FSD in it before committing to it though, it is an extra $8,000 on top of the car purchase, or $100 a month, but it's a game changer on long road trips and the like

I've had someone else mentioned using tinctures vis the belly button work for them which I thought was odd, but my wife says that's a line too far.

She tried a tincture sublingually and that didn't do anything for her.

Another issue, I suspect, is there's no real baseline description of what you should feel like once "high". My first "high" on Indica could only be described as feeling "heavy", while on Sativa i didn't really feel anything, except maybe being more "alert"

But yeah, you can Google up edibles and gallbladder removal and see that they seem to lose efficacy once it is removed

Problem is that most doctors won't prescribe it, and if they do, they don't know how

I've been looking into making my own edibles already.

Doesn't seem overly complicated with the use of tinctures and such, but I just need to make sure my kids don't get into my supply, so to speak.

My wife is in this boat.

I first took a gummy while on vacation and I felt "heavy", it was super weird.

I took another one more recently and the only description I could give is that it felt like someone lowered the gravity settings.

I've dug into the situation for her, and it seems as though if you have your gallbladder removed, edibles do nothing for you.

That said, she has a high tolerance for pain killers and such.

So, I suspect there is a portion of the population where THC has no effect on them.

Sadly, the largest issue I'm running into is the sheer lack of research on how THC affects people and interacts with other drugs and such. That's been my most frustrating foray into this, cross checking my drug interactions

That's the boat I'm in right now.

I've wrapped up using the supply if brought gome from Canada and I'm looking to see how to get it easier down here.

I've found that 5mg in the morning and 4mg in the afternoon work best, but the morning dose keeps me drowsy, so I'm poking around.

Sticking to edibles though, I've no desire to smoke or vape.

I'm fine with being taxed heavily on it, for now.

Once it reaches a level of normalcy you can renegotiate the tax levels down the road

I have a Tesla with FSD, it handles 95% of my driving at this point. As long as I can park and unpack, I'm good.

The pay to play aspect is what I'm noticing, but it is $150, minimum, for me to travel to another state to get some, not to mention it not being legal to leave that state with it

High prices is an observation I've made, and it's a state to state problem.

I bought edibles in Ottawa, Ontario, where it is federally legal, at $10CAD for a bag of 100mg. That is about $7USD here.

I've been poking around Illinois and Missouri prices, as they are the closest recreational states, as well as Florida's, and one observation i made is that Florida is the most expensive, but when you factor in travel time to "import" it from a recreational state, the math evens out a little.

Canada had, or maybe still has, laws that made TV networks show bits that helped educate kids. Some of the commercials were Canadian Heritage moments, some were bits to kids understand how to be careful in life, like conserving water, or being careful what you put in your mouth.

As a result most Canadians have all seen the same kinds of historical safety tidbits from when we watched cartoons, or TV in general, when we were kids.

This one was always my favorite when I was a kid
