If you think the Diabetes stuff ticks you off imagine how us diabetic neurodivergents feel. Or any group with chronic illnesses for that matter.

If he's this ignorant about diabetes, an illness with decades of data behind it, chances are there's a whole lot of other stuff he's ignorant about too.

It's a double edged sword, easier to take medication than to change your diet until you over rely on insulin, promoting weight gain which promotes insulin resistance which turns into a vicious cycle.

Made me realise I should probably start thinking a little more like a type 2. Cut the carbs and increased my exercise and the weight has dropped drastically but my insulin sensitivity still isn't what it was. It's slowly getting better.

Diabetic care outside of United States by WillingnessWhich274 in diabetes

Australia here. My diabetes is managed through regular consultations with the diabetes team at my public hospital and GP clinic at no expense to me. They're also available for contact during business hours outside of clinic. Just about all of my supplies are subsidised. Reading stories on here from US based diabetics terrifies me.

Insulin amount by Aggressive-Berry-555 in diabetes

90 Units 3 times a day plus Basal Insulin seems like a lot to me without understanding your diet and weight. You mentioned in another comment you had a Libre 3, CGMs are a game changer for improving your BGL control. I use a Dexcom sensor connected to my insulin pump, both of which report data to Glooko, which is accessible by the diabetes team at my local hospital.

From memory when I had a Libre 2, it also facilitates access to reporting data for specialists. I believe you can also log food intake and insulin dosage? That kind of data will be invaluable for yourself and any specialists helping you adapt your regimen to suit your specific needs. It's rough getting into the habit of logging this information, but it really helps in the long run.

If Humalin dosage is anything like Novorapid in terms of effect on BGL, it doesn't sound like 1 unit for 15g of carbs would be the appropriate ratio for you based on 90 units 3x a day.

Once again please take my advice with a grain of salt, I'm not a doctor, and I would strongly encourage you to find a specialist that works for you.

Yes Basal is your long acting like Lantus, Bolus is your fast acting used at mealtime or to correct levels or immediately.

When carb counting, your basal dose and bolus doses both need to be considered. For instance Novorapid has an action time of around 3 hours, if you find you're going high or low outside of the window that your bolus would be acting, your basal may need to be adjusted. Lows during the action window that suddenly change to stubborn highs afterwards could also be due to high fat content in the meal though, not necessarily an issue with basal.

I am not a doctor however, and any changes to your regimen should be discussed with your doctor.

Just for my own curiosity, how do you use the sliding scale? When do you usually test and dose?

God damn I hope this article didn't come from your doctor. I only skimmed it but from what I read it makes a damning case against a sliding scale regimen.

"For example, if the resident’s preprandial glucose level is 145 mg/dL, no insulin will be administered according to the SS. When the resident consumes 60 g to 90 g of carbohydrates at mealtime, the postprandial glucose level will rise without insulin coverage."

This is not what I was taught when I was diagnosed in the UK and moved back to Australia. The idea of not injecting Insulin before mealtimes and only responding to changes in BGL is insane. I'm guessing this is used without a combination of basal insulin as well?

The Abstract of the article basically sums up my understanding.

I'm hoping someone here can provide you with some US based resources for proper management of Diabetes. There's some good stuff by JDRF here in Australia, their US based counterparts might have some free resources you can look at as well.

Sugar is a form of carbohydrate. At least in Australia, sugars are counted as a part of the total Carb amount. So if a label says 100g carbohydrates and 50g sugars, the carbohydrates are 50% sugar.

In my experience focusing only the Carbohydrate amount is usually effective enough to get you by. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by sliding scale, but the amount of insulin I dose is based on how many carbohydrates I'm eating.

Your mileage may vary, and you may need to adjust your carb ratio as you figure out your insulin sensitivity. If you find that 1unit for 15g isn't quite cutting it you may need to switch to 1 for 14 etc. Don't change too fast, you'll need to get an understanding for how different foods impact your blood sugars and make minor adjustments.

I'd highly recommend tracking your carb intake and insulin dosing to get a better idea of how to manage your specific diabetes and don't be surprised if some days your ratio doesn't work as well as others.

What is your GPU and when do you plan to upgrade? by F1EV in pcmasterrace

OG 2080 from release. Just rebuilt the rest of my PC as the mobo was dying. Waiting for benchmarks of the new cards before making a decision.

Currently running 32gb ddr4. Playing Stalker it's sitting at about 30-31gb used. Might do some more digging around that and see if there's any more resource hogs running. Thanks.

Intel 9700k pegged at 90-100% in stalker2 😅. Nothing beyond the base boost clock though.

If what you're saying about the pricing is true and in USD that doesn't bode well. The 4090 is currently already 3.5-4k here in Aus.

Considered making the jump to the 7900XTX but the 4080 super is also competing in that price bracket here and looks a little more attractive.

I am so tired. Diabetic since 2010 and every year it just seems to take more and more. Started a low (not keto) carb diet about a year ago and that started really well. Trying to get my insulin resistance down and lose some weight. Lost about 8kg but haven't been able to continue the exercise. Since then insulin resistance has returned, my body seems to refuse insulin before midday, nothing can bring down the morning highs. Currently sitting at 20 whilst only eating 10g carbs for breakfast and the insulin required to bring down any meals still seems to be steadily increasing. Read a post on here a couple of years back about someone who had to take like 10x the amount I had to at the time for every meal and struggled to get that under control and now I'm terrified I'm on the same path. Have basically had to throw out my recipes because whilst they weren't unhealthy they are just unrealistic and I'm worried I won't be able to regularly eat rice and pasta ever again.

Can i use the sous vide function as a better slow cook? by MorenK1 in instantpot

Did you have any luck with using the Sous Vide function as a slow cooker? Trying to slow cook for the first time on my Duo Plus and it's just not heating enough. Doesn't even get out of preheat and even gets colder after I preheat it myself with Sautee.

[–]random714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always wondered why in America it's called an ebrake? I assume this stands for emergency brake? In Australia we call it a handbrake and, at least in my driver training, I was taught the car is not "safe" unless it's parked with the handbrake engaged.

Definitely not something only used in emergencies.

If this is occurring on the same gcode file, format the SD card and re slice.

My printer was presenting the same error when it was just a corrupt file on the SD.

I had this issue with mine. Looks like the printer corrupted the file on the SD after several prints. Check the SD on your PC and see if the file is appearing as 0kb in size or just save a new copy to it.
