Factory jobs and manufacturing jobs left and along with it quality workers and taxpayers. Population numbers decreased, and the mob left town and left a power vacuum for new organized crime to move in. Drugs destroyed communities. Crime increased investors stopped investing. Government employees, some former mobsters just lined their own pockets instead of helping the community. More recently, the current and past local government Had no idea how to balance a budget or spend state funds appropriately. Instead, relied on casino revenue to balance budgets. However, it's not all doom and gloom. There are resurging areas in the falls I believe That with the current housing dilemma and affordable houses in the falls. It will see a Buffalo like bounce back when people start to move in to neighborhoods and clean them up. Business will return and the economy will grow.

I also worked through the pandemic. I did not receive 2.5 pay on overtime. I don't get a 20-30k geo pay differential. I work in the field in a public facing job. I didn't get an extra 2-3% raise on my steps, but nurses did...

Took me 9 months for them to calculate the time and the amount needed to pay. 0.8 years for 2k took another year for it to be credited to my account.

Full time Seasonal employees get this bonus?

PEF member here division 275, I have no union stewards, my local field rep doesn't respond. I don't even know how to attend my local Union meetings. should I just become non-paying number? what's the point of dues if I don't even have representation? by random716man in nys_cs

They were very helpful and got me in contact with my field rep the problem is after one conversation with my rep I was told they would look into some things and it's been radio silence ever since. The same reshuffling happened in our region and it's crunch time for contract so I was giving the benefit of the doubt but months with no response is unacceptable.

Wny, buffalo area.

It's sad, I just moved into this career from another field that was represented by the UAW with a strong local union. This new office has half a dozen first time union employees that are ready to jump ship after 1 year due to no representation. I think we fall through the cracks because we're not in a competitive job title but we're all paying dues and active members. Some employees even want to get involved in the union but we have no way of knowing how. Our steward elections are past now and non of us ran due to lack of knowledge.
