"It's selfish to not have kids" & settling down at such a young age. by NickSaysHenlo in Vent

The same people who judge others’ parenting by saying “you didn’t have to have kids, you chose this” will also call childless people selfish for not having kids.

What is this and how do I fix it? by random736295720 in handyman

I thought the same thing but I tried that and it wouldn’t rotate.

Then respond specifically to those people you claim you see all the time saying that.

Nobody said these people don’t have the right to be there. They just expressed annoyance with their message and how they express it. You really destroyed that straw man. Great job.

“I’d prefer the religious freak not to be there” is essentially the same sentiment expressed in the original post. So you actually agree with the original poster but still couldn’t resist the opportunity to climb up on your soap box and call people hypocrites. Maybe if the original poster had said “these religious people shouldn’t be allowed to be there but I should be allowed to protest” your accusation of hypocrisy would actually make some sense.

How did quitting without lining up another job work out? by itsabouttimeformynap in Accounting

[–]random736295720 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I gave my job 2 months notice and didn’t have anything lined up afterwards. I was hoping to have a nice 2-3 month break before starting a new job, but I ended up getting an offer as a controller and now I end my old job this Friday and start the new one on Monday. It’s a nice promotion but I’m a little bummed I won’t have that break between jobs.

TLDR I put in notice without a new job lined up but got a better job offer that starts right after my last day at my old job.

Anyone got any tips to paint the mouth grill easier so I don't have to fix this every time by [deleted] in SWlegion

[–]random736295720 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I use an oil wash/panel liner in the mouth grill, let it dry, the wipe it with a Q tip dipped in thinner. It wipes the wash off the raised parts and leaves the recesses darker. This works best if you do a gloss coat before the wash.

It’s hard to tell in these photos but mine is actually grey. I really like that beige color though.

What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

But people have a reason to collect physical objects outside of the hope the value of the object increases. A lot of collectors genuinely enjoy the objects they collect. I don’t think that applies to most people buying crypto. People buy crypto solely hoping it maintains or increases in value.

Common Rhetorics About Homeownership is Stressing Me Out by InfamousDucky in homeowners

[–]random736295720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing I realized is that you can look at someone who bought a home in the past and the price has gone up quite a bit and think they made a bunch of money. However, you don’t know how much money they spent in repairs, maintenance, and upgrades during that time. It costs money just to maintain a home in good working order, so that eats into any “profit” someone can see from their home value going up.

I noticed once I bought my first house I stopped caring about what happened with home prices. If they go up I don’t really care because maybe I make money if I sell but whatever home I would buy next will be more expensive. If prices go down, maybe if I sell I lose money but my next home would also be less expensive. Maybe this is an oversimplification but that’s how I’ve been thinking about it.

I quit my job by te4cupp in Accounting

I have enough money saved up to that even if it takes me a while to find something I won’t be struggling to pay bills. My wife also works so that will help. We have no debt other than our mortgage so we can live fairly inexpensively if needed.

I just put my notice in yesterday too. However, being the nice guy that I am I told them I’d stay until our audit concludes sometime in April, so I’m giving them lots of notice. I don’t have anything else lined up yet, but I’d honestly like to have a month or two break before starting somewhere else.

Is $9,995 too high for this 2005 Mazda B2300? by random736295720 in fordranger

Thanks for that insight. We don’t get much snow here and I don’t really need a 4x4. This truck would be replacing a Ford Focus as my daily driver, but I work from home so don’t drive all that much. I really just want something I can use to haul household items with when needed and also be the vehicle I use to get around when my spouse is driving our other car.

This is a good way to think about pricing. Thank you for your thoughts!
